We don't fix negativity by passing it on. Feel your feelings, but know it's not always good to pass them forward."

Well I had someone be shitty in a comment earlier, while I may not have been a direct asshole I definitely was a bit of a smarmy prick by asking if them calling someone the r word made them feel better cause people who do that randomly often go through traumatic stuff and or lash out at people who freely express what they hide. Which in the context was to try and deflate their comment but still.

I failed this test today. Though to be fair it was a mutual failure.

This is why I try to only comment when I feel like I have something good to add or when I am trying to get clarification on something.

Agreed! It is important to keep in mind that everyone goes through pain, some worse and some not as bad, but we all go through something.

I like making shitty people feel shitty. Pass the negativity forward unto negative people.

"There's nothing so cutting as pure indifference." Wisest words I've seen in a long time.

The amount of times I've typed something out, even something I don't thinkis bad, just to delete it is mad. Probably over 100 times a year. Even if I'm typing something nice I worry that people will think I'm being mean.

This tactic is probably the most effective. It always reminds me of that famous scene in Mad Men where a guy tries to cut Don to ribbons, saying something along the lines of "I think about you [insert long-winded criticism]" and Don just stares ahead, not even looking at him and says "I don't think about you at all". There's nothing so cutting as pure indifference.

Sometimes the most effective thing you can do to someone on, for example, Twitter, is to just not respond at all. Not even block them, just pretend that person didn't say anything. Essentially, show that person that what they said to you was so ineffective and meaningless, that it's not even worth acknowledging. And once that is done, go and do something fun. 😄
