❤️ Thoughts & Well Wishes Regarding Valentine's ❤️

So, I've been thinking about Valentine's and how it relates to the content and if I'm comfortable doing a Valentine's audio. I've done them in the past, but always with a very real sense of "people asked for them - do it for the people".
But this year, I wanted to explain my thoughts on the holiday and (hopefully) spread a bit of positivity during the process.
So, here goes.
On a personal note, Valentine's is pretty much like any other holiday - it is what you make of it. There's no right or wrong way to celebrate or not celebrate it. Personally, I don't put stock in Valentine's. I think its pretty much used either as a status thing or as a way to get people to buy Pandora bracelets.
HOWEVER, that is not to say that you cannot and should not enjoy Valentine's Day. I am just one stupid person. I am no authority on what should or should not be enjoyed, endorsed or celebrated. For me, holidays are just an excuse to eat too much, lie down and generally switch off from responsibilities. I am not a holiday-type person. I don't take them seriously and I don't feel they hold a special significance for me.
HOWEVER, I can totally see how they could and will hold significance for other people. It's very easy to look at anything with cynicism and criticism - that's pretty much the internet at this point. It's a whole lot harder to actually take a moment to see outside of our own feelings, beliefs and daily lives to examine something and find worth in it. And I can absolutely see how Valentine's could hold a special place in people's hearts.
When I was younger, I remember saying things like "people are so desperate to get into relationships. It's really sad". And please know I share this now with very real cringe and growth and general "oh, you stupid little son of a bitch". The thing is, we have no idea where people come from, how they've been treated, the injustices they've suffered, etc - we just don't know. If you've come from an abusive background, grown up without a secure attachment, or heck, even just don't feel connected to your family - why the hell wouldn't you be desperate to get into a relationship and feel loved?
Why wouldn't you love romance and rom-coms and things that make you feel warm and fuzzy inside? Heck, I love wholesome family movies because I came from the polar opposite. We crave what we feel is missing and that is so, so valid. So, if you love Valentine's, please, please know that that is absolutely okay and worthy of celebration. It's really, painfully easy for people to say "its a capitalist construct". Bitch, most everything is a construct - that doesn't mean it isn't worthwhile.
So, if you love Valentine's, I wish you the best in celebrating it and hope you enjoy every second. I will not be releasing an audio on Valentine's, but that's entirely to do with scheduling - not any sort of protest.

I never liked Valentines Day. First it was because I couldn't get a gf. When that problem was solved, I hated the shallow corporate aspect of it (like Christmas, but without the attachment of religion or peace and love for everyone). Then I hated how it allowed bad SO's who should've otherwise had their asses dumped, be able to miraculously save their relationship by a grand gesture on an overrated holiday (made worse by waiting until the day OF Valentines to even buy the gifts). Now I hate it because the pandemic and inflation is eating up a chunk of my income, and while I have an understanding SO that's into the simple things, it annoys me that those around me spend tons of money on lavish gifts/gestures.

Honestly it doesn't mean much that you won't be posting on Valentine's when you post every other day. The content pool as is, is good enough. So just do whatever you feel like doing for the holiday as the rest of us are doing. As for me, probably just some greetings and salutations to friends and special people alike.
