A good read with lots of astute points. Having been at one point on the other end of the spectrum for sensitivity (or lack thereof) it’s a good reminder that there are always pros and cons to every attribute, and, even more so, we often want what we can’t have. Moderation of sensitivity and logical detachment is best but difficult to achieve. Moderation as a whole is generally good as I’ve found it is infrequently ideal to be entirely defined by any one thing. Also, I loved the concept of “your suffering/struggle is valid and your discontent is understandable, ‘but it doesn’t give you the right to be a dick.’” If only more embraced this philosophy.

This post pretty much sums up my life. Damn.

Just some guy with a handlebar mustache

i as a pretty emotionally detached person that could be considered "thick skinned" would like to confirm that all these aspects that being sensitive offers are highly sought after(heck even some of the negative ones) since at the end of the day people still want to form relationships based on emotion not just pure logic and being sensitive while locking some doors for you sure also opens a lot of paths you can take as you will be able to connect more easily with people that don't lay on the extremes also just a friendly reminder that people are only half thinking about most of the stuff they say

I do like this one. A very simple thing you can do when first meeting someone and you are unaware of their sensitivity or lack thereof: just use common courtesy and be respectful. Things get easier and more relaxed over time for some- but you should never stop treating someone else with the basic respect they are due as a living, breathing, thinking, and feeling being.

I realize I'm sensitive but it's true that people need to get thicker skin. It's not healthy to be around someone that you have to walk on eggshells with and worry if every little thing will upset or offend them. It's why people make fun of someone for being triggered. I do care a lot about how someone feels which is why I take offence when they snap at me, it's something I got from being berated a lot so it's made me think it's my fault. But as I grew older I've began to stand up for myself and say no this isn't always my fault and their just being fuckfaces.
