Sales Tax Clarification
🕑 Added 2020-06-26 15:37:25 +0000 UTCHello! I just wanted to tell you guys how I categorized the tiers for the sales tax. The categorization that we choose impact how much the tiers are taxed, if at all.
Tier 1 - 50% general support, 50% early access to art
Tier 2 - 50% general support, 50% digital downloads
Tier 3 - 50% general support, 50% digital downloads
General support is not taxed so at the most only 50% of your pledges will be taxed.
Unfortunately patreon has not been very clear otherwise as to how the specific categories I chose will impact you. For example, I’m not sure if “early access to art” is taxed at all. And they said that not every state taxes digital downloads. Plus sales tax varies in each state.
Also if you already pay VAT the new sales tax won’t affect you.

I agree with Johnna. I mean, if I was buying it in a store I would be paying taxes. It’s well worth it either way and I would totally buy it in a store too haha
I did some quick research, and I wanna say that my fellow Michiganders should be exempt from sales tax on "digital goods", but I could be reading the information incorrectly.
