Imaginary Kids Really Do Make You Think
🕑 Added 2023-08-22 18:32:54 +0000 UTCI don’t want kids, but a thought that really helps me in difficult situations, especially when it comes to relationships is “would I want this for my daughter?”. I’m telling ya, it just makes me question things a whole lot more seriously.
Would I be comfortable with my daughter being disrespected, controlled and belittled? Absolutely not. Then why would it be okay for me to have to experience those things?
It’s a great tool for people who struggle with self-esteem issues and keeping their boundaries.

I love my unborn children too much to bring them into this hellacious world. There’s so many factors that would come in to play if they’d be born, so they’re better off living in my imagination than in reality.
I do a similar thing. In my mind I place my friend in an exact same situation, and then give them advice. And then I carry out that advice. Glad to see I’m not the only one.

I don't want kids mainly because I'm afraid I'll pass my eye disease onto them, I wouldn't want them to go through what I did and possibly hate me for denying them a normal life.

I think the same way but with my parents. I was fortunate to have two loving parents even though they are divorced. When I make decisions in my life a thought always comes in the back of my head "come on man, would your parents be proud of you doing stuff like this". I don't let them control my life but it's a good check to my moral compass.
