Yeah, for most of the series a dude with a sniper acting outside the perception of magic users could pop a guy mid monologue and end the threat right away. Spells need to be cast and most of these people need line of sight. I do assume the decks would be super cursed if anyone was dumb enough to try and take them though. Nothing says lingering resentment quite like a bullet to the back of the head.
