Anytime there is a scene with Mack and anything remotely related to Hope, it's going to wreck me. Of all the people on this show, he's the last one who should ever doubt his ability to be a good father and a good man.

I completely agree! She was real to him and what they experienced was real to him. He knows now what he could have had with her and it makes it all the more heartbreaking. That will stay with him forever.

What I love about the show is normally in these types of shows the events that happen to the characters are forgotten but we see here that the memory of hope from the framework is still clearly there and not forgotten. Mack comment in 5x1 and this episode shows that he still has a place in his heart for her even though she was not real and that Dad that he became is still a part of him.
