My (late) father-in-law was my child's biggest cheerleader. A product of decades of Catholic school and a forty year truck driver, it wasn't obvious how he would turn out when we told him, but he SHINED. Sure, he occasionally used the old name or pronoun, but he was always trying in good faith. When we switched to a private school, he was the ride every day.
