World Cosplay Summit Memories
🕑 Added 2018-03-09 17:04:32 +0000 UTC After posting these few pictures on Instagram I felt like sharing more here with you.Lately I have been looking at my past with sadness a lot. It's probabely a bad idea but I think everybody in my condition would end up doing the same after a moment.
I feel like I'm grieving. I'm grieving a life that is not mine anymore. And grief is necessary to move forward. Today I don't have the strength to get out of bed , this morning I felt like doing nothing, having non stop dizziness , zero strength and zero motivation so I shaked myself up to at least make this post ( but the truth is that I just want to sleep even right now)
World Cosplay Summit 2003
These pictures were taken in 2003 during the very first World Cosplay Summit. I was just a newborn cosplayer ( I started cosplay in 2002).
This experience has been since in the top 3 of my best cosplay memories. I will always , always remember it .
How I ended up there? Well at the time it wasn't yet a contest. I remember walking around during Japan Expo 2003 con and my roomate telling me to follow with her and chat with a Japanese guy from TV Aichi. I don't remember how she got to knew him and how she new he was looking for cosplayers but I guess I have to thank her for these beautiful memories.
We talked and well once again my memory is a bit blurry but I remember the guy telling me he wanted to invite european cosplayers for a festival and if I was interested. Obviously I was .
So, with Emilie, who was cosplayed as Pain from our Final Fantasy X2 group ( and whose cosplay was made by her aunt , one of my dearest long term friend), were invited to go to Nagoya for 5 days.

One of our first mission was to accompany the other 3 girls to a cosplay shop. ( the girls were Anja from...well apparently I also forgot this detail , Cindy from Germany and Sonia from Italia. Look at this picture^^,
Now, I'm almost embarrassed ^^,,,
we had reunion and press meetings:
Yes I agree, a lot of fan service ! After an early polemic , the WCS changed their view on cosplay and now ask for high quality costumes and all sexes wearing them.
I was so young and full of life!
We launched the first Osu parade

I remember feeling a bit awkward with how we were displayed like in a dog grooming show XD and I also remember 2003's japanese mobile phones. They were ahead of us and all of them had small clasping mobile phone when we had nokia 3310 looking phones. When I came back home I purchased my first mobile, besides, I was working for a phone mobile video games company so it was about time XD)
During the parade we were invited to sit down to watch... a parade ^^:

On the WCS special night we took part in a conference and then we had a photobooth.
They were filming all the time to make a small documentary so after the WCS meeting they took us sightseeing ...still in costume^^
Judging by our faces, we were all tasting Tofu specialities for the first time XD:
They even offered us a Maiko make over. yes it's us XD
I was so ugly with this makeup . XD ( well to say the truth, aside from the japanese girl, we all were XD)
And then, it was all over ! ( happy and tired^^)

Ça avait l'air tellement génial je savais pas que le wcs avait commencé comme ça! J'espère que tu nous postera 2005 ;-) et surtout j'espère que tu pourras te refaire de beaux souvenirs comme celui-la
Je suis sur qu’un jour tu revivras ce genre de choses ! Lâche rien ! Bientôt ce genre de post ne sera plus de la « nostalgie » mais une réalité 🙏🏻 Courage !

I'm sorry you're grieving, Clef, but these photos are priceless! A post about about your memories from 2005 would be very nice!
Yes you should make a post of your 2005 memories also. It would be wonderful to see how your cosplay evolved. =)
