I'm a week late but; could we get dossiers on the world's major political factions and their leaders? The closer to the bloodswamp the more relevant and more detailed. Can we also get dossiers on: more of what grannybrain knows about the soul What happens at the system and soul level when classing up from bronze->silver, silver->gold, and how best to prepare for each. Dossier on what happens at gold and platinum level depths in the delving. Not a dossier, but a conversation with grannybrain about Dozer.

Aezy Ken

Also, there could definitely be dragons outside of Karmark, Luna and others may simply not know about them.

sorry i'm confused " I don't believe Anchor Aura works on anything besides skills considered Auras?" if an anchor can use a spell can it not be added to a macro?

JC Silver

This is a very cool idea, but, practicality of the theory aside, I don't believe Anchor Aura works on anything besides skills considered Auras?

JC Silver

I think a good Reece breakdown would be a primer on soul-to-soul interaction. I think the spar with Velika was the only time we saw what might be the mechanics of establishing your soul's domain against another awakened, but the process is still very opaque on how the interaction between souls translates to affecting an opponent's skills or even causing damage to their paling.

JC Silver

When I started this series and Rain first decided on a Clarity/Aura build I never in a million years would have guessed that he'd basically become a speedster.

jcox

Perhaps 'grannybrain' would give us a summary of the non-system skills that the various factions hoard. The watch had truth-telling, the illuminators had something about mental protections. What else is out there?

Cirvante

Vatreece claimed that dragons are originally from Wix, but other than that, we've heard nothing that would suggest they aren't monsters. Powerful, gold-level ones that likely can ignore area ranks and essence density like Leviathans. The fact that only a platinum can beat them into submission would support that theory.

Cirvante

The Heroes of Wix, if I remember correctly.

Jeremy Macdonald

but where is a earth shaping anchor, think about it.... 5 anchor's attached to a metal plate pointing down (stone compact push stone to outer wall 1-2 metiers, gravity well push out to keep it in the middle, detect to let the pilot know what is around them for 100m live void or cave, levatae anchor to let pilot redirect and adjust, water manipulate to keep the water wait from crushing the anchors or arcane ward for damage reduction. please let me know if im wrong... placing this on a beach would let the hole to keep being filled by water as it made a tunnel into the under dark changing the aberrant mana from lets say a 4 to a 55+ you could also drop a bag of anchors and as the touched bottom did the same thing levelling up the monsters in an area up to 55+ and if it hits the hot stuff lava you can just wipe a place off the map,, think about it if a macro is set to scan every 30 second it call also be used to find deeeeeeeep mines moria got noting an a cave rain can make, also if a anchor with purify nova on a 10 second strobe (if that was lowered in to a massive cave and left there to disco ball would the mana change to purify? if the type of mana that comes to the top is the wrong type can a converter break it down to level 0 mana and convert it to lets say arcane and then put it through the mana quality levelling system.... moreeeeeeeee

just binnged 259 chapters i love it!

Ziggy

People aren't monsters either, but the one in Essed used the echoes of dead humans. Not something you're going to encounter spawning outside a lair.

Gardor

Oh when it mentioned the wheels bouncing on landing, it conjured images of runways for me, for some reason.

Random Information

That's always seemed a bit odd to me. Lairs contain monsters - but dragons are not monsters, or are they? So what was the dragon doing in the lair? Did the lair generate a dragon, or did a dragon take refuge in the lair?

Signspace

That was in a lair, I do believe. I think it is well established that lairs break the rules regularly.

IntegrationConstituency

It is a tiltrotor, it landed on the beach like a helicopter.

Random Information

"The only dragon that had ever been seen outside Karmark was the one Kev had beaten into submission" Didn't Snowlilly die to a dragon? I'm sure that wasn't in Karmark, so did Snowlilly get killed by the 'beaten into submission' dragon?

Gardor

Where did the plane land? Does it need run ways and other infrastructure? Did they just happen to have a very long very wide street?

SenescentSoul

Fixed with added vagueness! Thanks!

SenescentSoul

Ah, whoops. I was counting the date in my notes for 258, not 257. Fixed, thanks!

IntegrationConstituency

Typo: The date of Second Harvest 29 given by Rain's interface doesn't match the 12 day timeline to fix the plane. The chapters from the second half of Plunge to Blunt took place on the 11th. So unless the original day or two estimate was given long after they planned this trip, it doesn't fit.

Ziggy

"We knew only so little about him and now he's dead." I'll believe that ass is dead when we get a corpse or a death scene. Oh! But you just made me think of the group that gave Ameliah her cap in Brightside. Can't remember their name. Something pretentious, I think. But they're a "known" group with some success under their belt, a dossier on them could be interesting.

Cirvante

And Burrik, Kev, the Xiugaaran powerhouses, the strongest Guardians, the Rellagian rulers, the Bank top 3 and whatever she has on Potentate Vannon. Oh, and Fecht. We knew only so little about him and now he's dead.

Ziggy

Dropping in with his newly minted plane (dropship?). Talk about a power move. Off the top of my head, good candidates for a Reece breakdown would be Lavarro, Halgrave, and Velika.

IntegrationConstituency

Typo: "Living under the impending threat of doom for two subjective years". That should be four subjective years at least, possibly six or more. It was 4 years to get to the level 25 pattern (2 of which was working on the level 25 pattern itself). There is also the time between Breakthrough and Lucid which needs to be added (however much that is).

SenescentSoul

Fixed, thanks!

SenescentSoul

Fixed, thanks!

Cirvante

Typo: "Quiet,” Gena said. “We’re all just saw the same thing." Should be 'We' instead of 'We're'.

Cirvante

Typo: The dossier claimed that Luna used to control the Bank branch in Barstone, but they met him in Eastspar in chapter 212, where Luna states that he controls the Eastspar branch.

Kyle

This was just a fantastic chapter, and seeing that entrance and the airship from the outside perspective for the first time was so incredibly satisfying. *Chef's kiss* (Also time skipping the journey was a really great choice. In general the use of time skips has been extremely good and well considered recently, and it's done absolute wonders for the story's pacing, without taking away from the roots and style of giving lots of detail, character moments, slice of life, and system information that makes Delve great!)

Enkelados

Nah

SenescentSoul

Seriously considered making this joke. Was going to have her call her little knowledge articles "Reece's Pieces". Hershey's didn't bite on the sponsorship, though.

Random Information

I initially joked about Rain offering to take over the island, but on further consideration, Luna should really consider it if Rain made the offer. It's got to be high up on the Empire's next target list - a nice staging post for the invasion of Splendor. And it's guarded by 1 silver and some bronzes.

Jeppe Fiig

There is something funny, that in Dearth there is more between heaven and earth, than even goldplates think, in this case Physics 🤣

Marwolaeth

Damn if I don't love how shocked at Rain being casual people are lol

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

Stormlock

I second this. Information about a person place or thing is nice, but what I really want is information about systems. Class progressions, skill specs, how aberrant skills happen, rules for how dungeons can function... I want to know how stuff works. Edit: I would also accept an implausibly detailed dossier on Nicket.

Stormlock

Man, this chapter was great. I don't even mean as a part of the story (though that was also great) but as a... literary device? I'm not sure how to describe it. But for quite a while now I've been frustrated at the disconnect between what Rain knows (or should or could know) and what we know. And I get that you can't just dump a complete Dearth wiki on us if you want there to be surprises and suspense. But it chafed. So I was delighted when my frustration at not knowing things so nearby became Rain's frustration as well. It's a difficult trick to make me sympathize with a character so well, and to do it in a way that felt cathartic in regards to my frustrations with the story was brilliant. My hat's off to you. Seriously impressed.

Conor McGroarty

Well Ascension won’t mind making Luna number 1 as long as he keeps his greed in check to make this mutually beneficial.

Doodlyboy15

Love it, oversoul and a casual chat about Rain's new whip.

Random Information

Rain to Luna (after looking around the island a bit): "This is pathetic - you should just hand the island over to me." (Luna's head explodes from the indignity)

meh

I want a list of rare classes and their requirements, whether bronze or silver, I just want to see what other class progressions look like

Some_Jawa

Gods this chapter was satisfying

Daniel Powell

It feels like there’s a transition needed between the first half and the second.

Great chapter!
