Barbara West

I just joined Patreon and this is the first I've heard of this series. Looks great! I live in a blue urban oasis in one of the reddest states in the Union. It's been in the news a lot but I'd really like to hear some additional viewpoints.

Jordan Vogul

Awesome, I’ve been advocating for this format from governors also

Deb W

Really appreciate this. Thanks!

Sean Dorval

I feel sorry for people who have Trump's attention focus on them. It must be like the eye of Sauron turned your direction.

FloundericiousWA

Nice, thanks Dee!~

Pia O Nomata

Seconding the Fun State Facts idea...correct pronunciations of potentially tricky town names would also be cool.

Jackie Brown

I like it! I liked the 'on this day' one as well. Thank you for being there for us and helping us be better informed!

Sean

I like it a lot. Id be happy to listen to it on a regular basis.

Devan England

Nice work, but I notice at 5:00 the video mentions "JFK Jr" when it should be "RFK Jr". Just something you might want to correct.

Mo po

I can imagine that this will be very useful and warmly received at a national level, which is probably the goal. You have a very pleasant voice and tempo, Dee. Wouldn't be surprised if you were a singer. Thank you and good luck with the channel.

Megan Lyn

Excited about this. And while it’s not the issue for me that it is for others, Nevadans pronounce it the way Belle does , not the way Beau does (he even laughed about it once in a video). Something to consider because I definitely noticed first time I heard Belle correctly pronounce it. But so loving this and so excited about more 🫶🏻

Daniel Wnorowski

Facts reported… then interpretation using critical thinking.

Katrina

As per usual your notification arrived overnight and 12 hours later the video is unavailable. . .

David Billings

Video unavailable- This video is private

Kate Trabue

Great episode, Dee! Welcome to the forefront. Give us a weird or funny fact to wind up the episode - I think that would be great!

Barry Drake

I love this format. Thanks, Dee!

EDWARD SADZEWICZ

Excellent!

intothesunset

I love it!

Lorenzo

Well done.

Eman Ramos

Well done Dee! I liked the suggestion someone made about recommending a book. I’d like to expand on that: what about a book with geographical ties to one of the states or cities featured in the episode. Edit: for example, Barbara Kingsolver’s recent Demon Copperhead is focused on the area of eastern TN or western NC. Most of my favorite books have a strongly developed setting in a real or nearly real place. But I reckon there’s room for sci-fi too. Has anybody read Ian McDonald’s Desolation Road? It’s set on Mars, sometime after Elon establishes industrial feudalism there. Oh wait, it was written in the 80s.

Pamela Hineman (Lexy Wolfe)

I like it. It's very nice. And I'm looking forward to non-election related news bits in the future. Maybe Beau as Dad and Belle as Mom, everyone else are cousins? As for what to add at the end, having random "Weird state laws that are still on the books." Like, one I found for Pennsylvania is, it is illegal for fishermen to catch fish with their mouth. (My state is...odd sometimes.)

V V

Thanks Dee

Heidi Tryon

Very interesting. Thanks!😀

Mary Whalen

Love it!

Jaquenta Jackie

I love, love, love this new format! And, Dee, you're another excellent addition to the Fifth Column Commentators. Thanks for the news. It was very informative. Your idea for a state facts ending would be awesome. Something weird would be even better. Maybe something that people from the state would know, but isn't widely known. ☺️ Glad you are stepping out into the forefront! It's nice to finally meet so many of Beau's team that has made the channel such a success. We'll always miss Beau, but we are so happy to finally meet Belle and the team. You've all made the transition seamless and interesting. Thanks for that. 💐👋🏾☺️

Gerald Simonowits

Awesome!

Beau of The Fifth Column

There should be. They automatically generate in the description. it takes a while sometimes and y'all got this minutes after uploading.

Prof Braino

Excellent

Conrad Kirby

Welcome to the screen side of the program Dee. Very good job and look forward to this format going forward.

Bob Nolin

Maybe end with some goofy state news item. Just a thought.

Angel Maria Raudner

Excellent! Lots of info in a short time. Will there be transcripts?

Sandra Blomberg

Hell-0. This is great 😸 I am thinking that having an interesting state fact would be the perfect ending to these episodes . Take Care Stay Safe And Healthy ❣️🐱🖖✌️☮️🌈

JKM Donne

This is great. The map is neat. I liked the rate and style of Dee's presentation. I like hearing *real* people talking and felt like a neighbor was giving the update.

Annelisejj

What specific accent does she have? It's similar to Dolly Parton's, but a li'l twangier. Charming as heck.

David Wilhelm

Sorry to be pedantic, but, at 5:02, she mentions that the Wisconsin Supreme Court has decided to keep, "JFK junior," on the ballot. I assume this was meant to be RFK junior. That or it's some Q-Anon shit in which case...I don't care. Let them run a corpse for president. That's pretty on-brand for a group that thinks a porn-obsessed weeb who only moved back to the US so he could run for office is somehow king patriot.

John Caywood

The pacing and annunciation are just right. You are trying to reach 50 states worth of accents and regionalisms. Belle’s delivery is more rapid than Beau’s was, with no problem. But you are going to move through multiple states with a sentence or two each. It allows us to jump with you. You are on the right track. If you want to apply a “button” at the end, every state has a slew of official state slogans, birds, flowers, etc. “Who knew that the state bird of inland Utah is the California Gull?” or something.

Annelisejj

If you watch in YouTube, you can choose a faster playback speed! I grew up back East myself, but maybe I've been in CA too long--I thought her pace was about right. I've definitely made use of that 1.5x speed at other times, though.

Susan B Peckitt

This is a great idea nicely executed. Thanks for the work.

Ken Edwards

very kool i like the weird state facts idea weird is always good lol

Licks

It was a decent segment; I liked it overall. It would be nice if you dropped sources into the comments. There were a few that I'd like to have more information on.

alexander gaitan

Looks and sounds good!

Stefan Kwiatkowski

Interesting. I liked the license plates for the states, especially the dark blue on orange 1965 Illinois plates. Those are the colors of the University of Illinois (not my alma mater) and the Chicago Bears (I'm a fan).

Jo Swan

Thank you so much for doing this.

Tobie7

I like it. Sorry to disagree with Janet but i think the rate of speech is perfect. I had to once tell a northerner "sorry my ears don't hear that fast". Lol. An oddity about a state a week would be a great ending!

Beau of The Fifth Column

Good idea. This is Dee.

Lisa T.

This was really interesting. Thanks from New York.

Janet Michelson

I like this very much. I would prefer a faster rate of speech but I'm from the north and probably ADD. Thank you for doing this.

Latricia Cagle

If you’re starting with my state of AZ, I’m relieved to hear good news. 🥳👏

Kier Salmon

Hmm, thanks. That was interesting and I’ll surely look for the next one.

Ken Dilks

This was great! Suggestion - when new people join the channel as broadcasters it would be nice if Belle could introduce them (e.g. she's now mentioned Dana more than once) which helps string the team together and transfer some political capital. Also if we could learn their name in written form somewhere (even if it's just in the channel description) it would reduce the number of odd-spellings as users try to guess the names (for example, the many spellings of Bryon when Driving Dates came out).

PF

I like this concept, and the delivery is already pretty good!

Anakin Dayton

Very cool, thank you!

Tina Vitali

This is great information! Looking forward to more of these.

Drew Lackovic

Definitely enjoyed this

Beth Kantor

There are weird state laws you could end with. Take Duluth, Minnesota; five women aren't allowed to live together, or it's considered a brothel. That's why there are no sorority houses. I'm sure there are weirder.

sandy

Awesome, thank you! From Pennsylvania

Sean Lantis

This was all news to me. Ergo, I freakin love it🤘 Keep em coming👍

Kate Casey

That was enjoyable and easy to process. Good delivery, too.

Beth Kantor

With the Pennsylvania racist news, I thought you were going to say Trump responded, “There were good people on both sides.”

Mark william lane

Great idea this heads up news cycle! Eyes on! Thx

Rob Sokolowski

I love this concept, can’t wait to learn all the, uh, wonderful things happening in other states
