Hehe, I was digging around my drive freeing up space for Starfield when I encountered this gem of a clip.
Behold, Nord battle tactics!
A year ago I was young, innocent, and had way too much time on my hands, so I slapped together a mod that allowed combat formations such as shield walls with just papyrus, packages, and a lot of trial and error.
I scrapped it later because it was really buggy, but it goes to show how well the engine holds up, as long as one is willing to have a bit of creativity, a whole lot of resilience, and enough mental insanity.
Hope y'all are having a good week!

Formation with Followers can get you halfway there, but you have to assign positions manually and it doesn't modify their AI once combat starts, IIRC

*exhales in despair* The one thing at the top of my wishlist as someone who can not program at all is unit tactics. I want to make clear that I support you working on whatever you enjoy working on, though!

BRING IT BACK!

Dude that is too damn cool...imagine a modding team consisting of people like yourself who can script combat tactic like this + guys who can write stories and make quests to incorporate these new combat formations in memorable encounters.

It would be so cool if you could assign formations to your party like in the CRPG Baldurs Gate and IceWind Dale.
