Eyy, appreciate it, Shark! ^_^ And congrats for pronouncing my last name correctly; you'd be surprised how many people can mess up such a simple surname. To elaborate on the Chinese/Japanese characters: Chinese Hanzi and Japanese Kanji are a shared system that bear similar semantic meanings across both sets of languages, but ofc differ in pronunciations. Katakana and hiragana, on the other hand, are syllabaries exclusive to Japanese, which function less like word-symbols and more like phonetic letters. Hope that helps~
