UPDATE π Mounted Teutonic Knights
🕑 Added 2024-02-19 14:39:08 +0000 UTCI'm starting a new series of posts where I'm going to update most of my models to fix historical inaccuracies and optimize some parts that can result in a better printing experience.
To begin, I'm updating the mounted teutonic knights: I'm removing all round top enclosed helmets, since pictorial sources of the 13th century depict flat top enclosed helmets, and the same goes for the great helms; at the same time I'm tightening the slits for the eyes where needed.
I'm also widening the hole in their hands, so that the lance staffs can have a larger circumference and print stronger and straighter for everyone.

Thank you, the crest on the helmets is actually based on the illuminated Manesse Codex from the 13th century, where the crest and arms of a teutonic knights are depicted. You can see it here https://bit.ly/teutonic_codex_manesse . This was probably pertaining to a tournament more than battle, but in any case these decorations existed and were probably made by soft materials like paper, so to not give the opponents an advantage in combat.

Great idea, making your already beautiful minis even better! :) If you make those wider, even third-party-plastic lances like those from Fireforge might be feasable, good idea! Helmet crests most likely are als not historical accurate, but look pretty badass (there are examples, like the "Prank-funeral"-helmet, but that's the point, it was for his funeral, not for combat) Anyways, looking forward to your updates and thank you for making them in first place! It shows you care about maintaining your sculpts, which isn't something everyone does.
