I think the E hitting 3 might be a bug actually, so we'll see next patch if they remove that. I think Imperius is best played as main tank right now since his Q 7 talent is so strong when combined with Q 1. I'd play it any time they dont have huge amounts of CC, should work just fine most of the games.

Thanks for the update. The new E wording really needs clarification, I didn't realize it will hit 2 minions even with a hero in range. I've seen some high-level scrims using Imperius main tank with success. Any conditions you'd think about when drafting him main tank in SL?
