Company Challenge: US Mech Infantry 1 is out for Patrons!
🕑 Added 2025-08-16 12:55:07 +0000 UTCSlightly delayed, but the script crossed the half hour mark and it took a little longer than anticipated.
The scenario worked out really well, bar one minor thing to tweak, the Americans did really well my mistakes notwithstanding. I don't know if starting with the US was a mistake because next up we've got a bog standard Soviet Motor Rifle Company in BTRs and I really don't think that's going to have a good time.
But we'll see!

US Mech Coy. High on robustness and redundancy. Nice intrinsic combined arms capability. Versatile and capable of limited independence. US Mech Battalions have forward detachments as TOE subunits!

OK, each platoon commander in real life could think for themselves. A lot of leadership is getting the right person at the right place

The US Mech Co. has an impressive array of organic supporting arms. Seeing all this in action gave me an appreciation of how difficult this must have made the Company CO’s job, having only one man (the XO?) as “staff”.

[edit] The Germans and the Israelis had to develop a workable modern combined arms tactics, what with enemies on their border. America for all its economic might didn't get any modern armored operations until the 80s. They took a long, long, long time mired in post Vietnam malaise, budget cuts, and having fought for an entire generation against thousands of guys in pajamas - instead of millions of guys in BMPs and T-64s.

This is set in '82 right? 9 men squad is a result of army reorganization in the 80s. OK, I might got misdirected by the graphic made by battle order, the dismount team is indeed 9 men in the 70s. So this could equally be set in '80 after what happened in Bandar Abbas.
