To speak on the first email, I’m a child of divorced parents and did the back n forth BS till I was 19!! I personally think something that isn’t talked about enough in this situation is how guilty you feel, especially during the holidays. I always felt so guilty leaving one parent to see another on holidays. Of course, that’s not necessarily my burden to carry but I totally remember being 10/11 and thinking “I wish mom didn’t have to sit home alone at Christmas after we leave” or “I wish I could see my dad for a little longer”. It’s tough. My dad held a lot of resentment towards my mom so they didn’t prioritize doing holidays together for us. I will never put my child through that.
