it was definitely trash of them to put Junpei in the first opening, but it became the kind of trash you love to hate. the first time I saw JJK I watched the opening every episode and started looking forward to seeing Junpei join Yuuji and the others, which made his death that much more shocking and heartbreaking 😭 so cruel of them but I’ve come to appreciate that shot of them all together as either Yuuji or Junpei’s hope/dream for their future, as naive as it may have been 🥺

When the girl yuki was talking to him and told him there's 2 options to completely shut down curses : - make all humans learn to control their cursed energy - remove the source of te cursed energy. Geto got that idea of killing non-jujitsu sorcerers like you broke it down @meesh/dee, but another interesting note is that when you listen to that moment of him thinking about that path, it's not just the rain from the outside hitting the ground as a sound effect, but it was "blended" with the CLAPPING from that haunting image of those shitty people that let Amanai die. That and when he saw that humans are torturing the 2 little girls even though he already killed the bad curses, the shadow on the wall "splitting" and showing a split in his decision, and finally Geto picking a side... that's actually very good non-narrative insight into his psyche. What's interesting is : is Geto actually a VILLAIN here? It depends on his point of view. Sure his actions can be seen as evil but... In his mind, the end justifies the means that if he can kill non-jujitsu people until they're all gone or they evolve and forced to become jujitsu sorcerers... his goal is to save humanity from curses, same as JJK sorcerers... Except JJK sorcerers are like the the the medicine to fight off a toxic/poison in a body... Geto's thinking about not being a medicine anymore, but to be a vaccine, to completely stop the curses before they happen by making everyone adapt, evolve ...or die. To stop the curses sprad.
