Rogue-Like status update 12/16
🕑 Added 2015-12-17 01:10:19 +0000 UTC Ok, so there's still a lot of graphical tweaks and some mechanics updates that I want to get in before I wrap on the Rogue side of things, so that might take another few weeks, but I still want to get a version to you by the end of the month, so I'm going to start triaging things, and knock together a playable version of it in the meantime. It'll fix most, hopefully all the existing bugs, and likely cause new ones, but you'll get to play with the new settings and animations.I wanted to get your opinion on something in the meantime. A lot of you responded that you found the game "too easy," that she would basically have sex right away and you could do just about anything in the first few days. Part of this was due to some bugs that causes some of her stats to max out instantly when they shouldn't have, but also there was the sandbox nature of making it possible to do anything so long as she liked you enough (and I probably set targets a bit low in that version).
I'm thinking of shifting it to a system that is slightly more linear, not a truly linear "max out X before you can move to Y" system, but a little bit more "in order," so that you need to do at least a little foreplay before you can jump to anal.
In the system as it will launch in the upcoming 0.92, the basic requirements of love/obedience/inhibition will be higher than they were in the previous builds, so it will take more effort to earn the higher tier actions, the top tier ones will require more than half the available stat levels (300 is the max), even in private, but you can still do them in any order. If you can convince her to have near-max stats without actually touching her, you could theoretically jump straight to anal or whatever you like. The possible alternative would be that you would need to do at least a few of the foreplay activities to unlock the more significant sex acts, and then a few of those to unlock others, etc., making it impossible to jump straight into the top tiers (although you wouldn't have to do everything along the way).
So which would you guys prefer?
A. The system would be free form and controlled only by how much the girl likes you.
Or
B. The system would be slightly more linear, requiring you to work up to the more intense sex acts through some more softcore and medium options.

As long as it's not too hard and you allow the option to do just softcore stuff and it still levels up at same rate as hard core ones I am fine with what ever (sorry about spaces am typing on iPad, I voted by the way)

Hm... you would still have the option of taking it slow, in the free form system, right? Although the slightly more linear system would be more natural, regardless. Especially with someone like Rogue, who basically is a complete stranger to physical intimacy of any kind (we have that in common... :P). I'm leaning towards B, I guess.

Well, that exists, to some degree, but just getting her to love you is relatively easy, so if that was the only thing necessary then there's no real challenge to it. Think of it as a full spectrum though, if she really loves you but is really inhibited and rebellious, then she still don't do everything you might want to do, If she's a real free spirit but doesn't like you at all, then she might be willing to do some things, but not all. Keep in mind that you start off at 50/300 from the free 50 points in love

Keep in mind that you start off at 50/300 from the free 50 points in love, but other girls will start with a different stat balance. Also keep in mind that once you hit 100% in any one stat, you can start to reallocate the overflow points, so like if you want her to be more obedient after maxing out love, then you can hint that to her, and suddenly any love points you gain over 100% fall into her obedience column. I should also point out that when it comes time to do things, there are various modifiers at play, including whether you've done it before, whether it requires seeing things you haven't seen before, whether she's already horny or not, whether you're dating or not, whether you're just back from a date or not, etc. As for the addiction angle, that stuff is already in there, although there wasn't much need for it in the buggy version 0.91, and there are also some checks that favor one stat greatly over another, although most of them are the combination of all three. For example, if you ask her nicely, love might be favored, but if you give her an order, you'd best have high obedience.

well, we have 3 stats, it would be interesting if we had 3 ways of doing it. Either she likes you and lets you do things to her, she is not inhibited and lets you do things to her or she is addicted to you and obeys everything. So i think it should be based on the highest stat. At the same time i agree to an extend with the B option, if you max out a stat she should do anything you want, but, if you do some foreplay beforehand, she will be more willing to do sexual stats and not require to have everything maxed out. With that said an idea comes to my mind where you can make her love you or obey you as a relevant stat (depends if you command or ask her something) and inhibition as a secondary stat. If you do not have enough inhibition, she will be hesitant to do something and require more obedience/love whereas if she is completely uninhibited she should be more willing. (also we have the addiction stat which should trigger events where she will do things she would not normally do (based on somehow lowered inhibition for the event) and if she does a thing she would not normally do, it should boost her obedience, if you do not take advantage of her she should like you more for it) well i like the option A more if given the two options above, sorry for the wall of text :(
