Rogue-Like Update 04/30/2020 (A little preview)

Hard to say. Rogue is *one of* my favorites, at least, and I really loved the version of her in Evolution. Evolution was probably my favorite animated version of the X-Men, but I came to the franchise through the comics, and have loved all sorts of interpretations of the characters, which is why later characters tend to bring in more from the comics side. I picked Evolution as a theme because I knew I wanted to make a sprite-based game, and I felt that the art style would work well for that. I didn't want to make a game in which there wasn't a defined visual style that I could work with, because that ends up being a lot less recognizable. I love some of the designs they came up with, but others not so much, which is why characters like Jean and Jubilee I took a significantly different direction with it.

Oni quick question based on the title is rogue your favorite x men character or is it someone else I would like to know if you have the time. Also is the x men evolution your favorite version of them or not

The thing is, at first glance she look like MJ to me. But the outfit is good, straight out from evolution.

Generally speaking, updates come out on 3-4 month cycles, with around 2-4 weeks of testing and new builds after each new version comes out. I expect to have a new version out in a few weeks, but I still have a lot of work to put into it.

Is there an ETA on when Jean will be added to the game? I recently became a patron and am unfamiliar with the update cycle.

I guess she locked it behind her. ;) The you being able to leave is working as intended, you just unlock it as you go, I didn't feel like adding a redundant action in there, but I might tweak something with girls unlocking the door as they go. It might just be a simple tweak.

When in the shower, you can lock the door, have fun with one girl, then when she leaves you still have the option to "unlock the door" (how did she get out?) and you can leave without unlocking the door first...

Heh, ok, ok, I'm working on it. Lately I've been working through the coding and adding in her various dialog and conditions. I've got her working in the dating scenes, her clothing choices, etc. Still working my way through the rest. :D

Well, the community voted for the character, and like I said when I put her up as an option, I wasn't intending to go with the cartoon version of the character because I just wasn't a fan of that look.

I don't really see the big deal about Jean looking slightly different from her appearance in Evolution, I mean Laura and Emma are pretty different from their appearances in the show, and even Rogue and Kitty have subtle but noticeable changes to their designs courtesy of Oni. I mean we've been anticipating Girl 5 for a while now and I don't think it's worth throwing a hissy fit over her hair being 3 inches shorter and her chin being more realistic, I mean give the creator some room for creative decision making. Sorry for the partial-rant, I just think we should all be a tad more open, props to those still giving Oni the respect he deserves.

Well, to be fair, my version of Emma is a bit exagerated in that regard. I wanted some variety, with Rogue being "medium," Kitty being "small," I wanted to get an "extra large" in there, so that's what I went for with Emma. I think the size I went for with Jean is on-model to her usual look.

On the whole I think I like it, but it's not the final I would be aiming for. Like many others, I agree that it doesn't look like Jean Grey the way I would think of her. I think it's the hair maybe. Also, just as a point of personal preference, I'd want her bust size up. When she's in the Hellfire Club as Dark Pheonix with Emma Frost as the White Queen, you get plenty of shots showing that they're roughly the same size, so I'd probably want her in roughly the same league as Emma. Oh or as an alternative if that doesnt work, I think she has a ponytail style from the older cartoon when shes in her suit.

I'm definitely leaning in a bit of a different direction from the animated series. And actually, her eyes will be a bit darker, I think the shading layer is missing in this pic for some reason. I don't have the sprite portions "live" in the game right now so I just threw the parts together in Photoshop.

I like the model, not sure what shes doing with her right hand tho lol. But I'll be honest not the biggest fan of the hair choice. Definitely feel the longer fuller hair she has in Evolution would be better, just dont think the fringe works in my opinion (or maybe have the longer hair as the wet option perhaps?). Other than that, like the figure, the height and the clothing, good stuff :D

How old is she here? In my opinion, she looks a little over her 30s.

Body and face is perfect, only thing for me is the eyes and hair. Her eyes were softer and more of a forest shade of green in the Evolution series. I remember her hair was longer, flowing and had a more subdued, auburn shade to it with a part in the front.

Well, the game is sort of the "b-side" of the comics, so I tend to avoid full on superhero costumes, but I do make streetclothes alternates. You might recognize her second outfit.
