Rogue-Like Update 11/30/2018 (Patch Notes)
🕑 Added 2018-11-30 06:57:43 +0000 UTC Hey guys, version 0.981 is coming in the next few days, I'm in final testing and have wrapped new content for it.For those of you new to the community, I want to make clear that the first releases of a new version will likely be highly buggy, crash-filled messes. They are essentially a beta test of the build, not fit for casual consumption. If it would bother you to get halfway through a scene and the game crashes, this won't be the build for you. :) Over the first few days of its release, I expect to put out several builds to cover immediate bugs, and hopefully work to a more stable version within a week or so. When it seems to work in a stable way, I'll let everyone know, so if you just want to have casual fun with the game, I recommend you wait until then.
If you do encounter bugs, I'd appreciate you either post in the release thread to that version, or private message me about it. There will typically be an error message with any crash, a first bit followed by a "full traceback" which can be much longer. I recommend you don't post the full traceback unless asked to do so, the portion before that is typically plenty to find the problem. It can also help to know the sequence of events leading up to an error occurring, or as complete a description possible of a non-crashing error, but I can ask follow-up questions if I don't understand or can't narrow it down. The point of the buggy versions is to find and fix as many of them as possible, so please do let me know.
New content/features:
- An intro/cameo for the next girl in the franchise. It's just a short scene, around 200 lines of code, nothing too sexual, so don't get your hopes up, but it should give you an idea how she looks and acts. We'll be discussing her more as we move into the version after this one.
- Titjob scene for Kitty
- Rogue's sex scenes can now involve her torn hose/tights or her stockings with garterbelt. The art for this didn't work in previous builds so it was disabled, but I fixed it.
- Emma's relationship scenes are in, they should happen automatically as you hit milestones (should hit fairly rapidly if you have an existing save), or in some cases can be accessed from her Chat menu.
- I changed the way relationships work slightly, now, if you are already dating one girl, any girl, and get too cozy with another girl, the first will approach you and either wave you off or give you permission to bring her into the relationship, do what you will with that advice. If you're dating two or more girls and are getting cozy with a third, a slightly different scene will play out relating to that. I haven't fully implemented all the details I want with this system either, beyond basically getting the ball rolling, but eventually there will be more scenes and conversations based around who is in your "harem." If girls give you hassles about this, just work to raise their stats, or to make them more comfortable with the newer girl. Let me know if anything weird happens on established saves, but it should adapt.
- Emma's Room now exists, you can visit her there, do the other room-based activities.
- I updated the studying system to be more adaptive. You should be able to study with multiple girls, and in some cases have encounters with one or both when you do. If Emma is there (and cool with it) there are some slight differences.
- I updated the sleepover elements to make them more adaptive as well, compatible girls will be fine with both sleeping over now, and hijinks can ensue.
- I updated the some of the orgasm animations allowing both Kitty and Emma to take cum in the mouth while giving titjobs, without changing poses first. Hopefully this works out without too many glitches.
- I updated the classroom adjacency system. This will allow theoretically infinite girls to be present in the class, without overly taxing the system. Now one or two girls can sit next to you (or you next to them), and that will determine most things that take place there, while other girls are just "nearby" and mostly ignored, unless you choose to bring them into things. This system is not completely filled out, I plan to have more events proc off of it, and give you more control over shifting girls in and out of your orbit, but the underlying systems are in now.
- I tweaked the way scene refreshes are displayed to remove some default transitions that I believe were slowing things down. You should hopefully notice less lag, primarily on main room menus, and when entering a room especially.
-Various other little bug changes here or there, like some glitchy art or dialog.

She will definitely not be the last, the plan is to keep adding girls as soon as the previous one is "mostly functional," alongside increasing the options for all of them. As for what can be done with her, the next build won't have every option the other girls have, it will only have a few, chatting, showers, study, dancing, fondling, probably HJ, maybe BJ? Not sure yet how much additional art those will need. Probably the rest will be next version after, a lot more art to do for those.

Yes, it's just the one scene in this version. After the next major release, 0.982, she will be easy to find wandering around like the others.

Impregnation would take way too much time to add, since it would require variations on almost every clothing piece for every pose. I think at least one of the characters mentions that they have really effective birth control at the school.

I think the only thing that could make this game better other than new characters is impregnation, considering the massive amounts of cum being packed away inside them. As canon Emma is a sex therapist, I'm thinking she'd be on birth control. However after she starts calling the MC Master and statistically completely submits to you, you can ask her to stop taking it.

Yes, sorry, there was one hurdle that I'd fixed on my end but hadn't transferred to the version b build, it will be fixed in version c. Hopefully. And I do hope to add more new clothes, but it's complicated because for each piece I add, I need to do 4-6 different versions to fit all her poses.

How so? What happens? Does the save just not load to where it should? Does it throw an error? Most of the save coding is built into Renpy and I don't mess with it much, but sometimes something I do can cause an error with older saves, and I try to correct for that actively, but if I'm missing a bug, I'll need to know the error message to figure out how to slip around it. My goal is to never lose progress, because I hate when that happens when I'm playing something.
So i completely los progress twice because the save doesn't work

Not visually, no. You can get both girls theoretically on there, and I might try to make it at least move the second girl closer, but having a true doubleteaming animation for each girl would get complicated with all the customization options.

Yeah, should be fun. I spent the afternoon working the rest of the major bugs from the sleepover code, but I expect at least a few more to pop up. Get used to "Party[0]" bugs over the following builds, it's a new thing I've been messing with. :D

I don't think Oni is "milking" this, it's just how the indie game design process works. We've got to remember Oni is one person with a possibly small team there is only so much they can do no matter how many patrons they have. Plus with how patreon seems to treat NSFW content I could only assume time has to be put other places to fix those fires.

Yeah, I think so too. They're simple things, but make the game feel more like a real place, which makes the rest of it more "important?" And just so you know what you're getting into, I spent the time between that first post and this one bug-testing my way through the sleepover scene, and found dozens of things I ended up needing to tweak, including (but not limited to), a couple crashes due to misplaced grammar, a thing where the girls would constantly throw their day clothes back on when they were meant to be in PJs, and announce that they were doing so, a few glitches in character location, the character saying "0" in a menu for reasons that took a minute to figure out, etc. So stay vigilant. :D

As much as Emma's content and the new girl are exciting, things like the sleepover, studying, and getting permission are all amazing as they offer greater depth (for lack of a better word) to the game. Rogue's tights being able to stay on however are just the cherry on top. Thank you for (the probably bugged filled mess XD ) we are about to receive.

Hey, I understand why people pester me about the next build, they want to play it, and so do I, and I love that they want to play it. Oni, just wanted you to know how proud I am to be backing a developer that is so dedicated in making a game by yourself, I wouldn't have a clue how you code and draw all by your lonesome, i just don't understand how people are pestering you for the next build and why it takes so long, those people can shove it.
