I know which one you mean, but I think toki has almost always shifted to simple backgrounds once the action started.

Gonna be honest, I'm not feeling these pages. We've lost all semblance of presence & atmosphere to gradient backgrounds, the coloring is harsh and the onomatopoeia is getting a bit aggressive in the typeface. These feel like a bunch of pinups rather than anything in sequence or motion, is how I'd try to place it. Of course, I may have a slight bias as at the moment, the other comic I'm into is about a trans lad discovering bodily acceptance via skinny dipping; with beautifully illustrated backgrounds on every page. It isn't even that intricate of a plot, but there's such a sense of <i>effectuality</i> that makes me cheer for the character as if he was as real as you or I. I suppose I should confess: This comic's been one of your weaker ones to my eyes. It's <i>painfully average</i> , which to say is several steps down from your regular output. There's no real excitement here.
