Yeahhh there is so much early game that you are not learning about, but you also have to gauge your nintendogs walking path properly with obj, champion, and map info. YES large handicap of not fighting another champ at all times, BUT you have this game of ca. . . where you have these cheese pits and camps popping up per your time trial as well as your more tons and jerrys muckin about in lane. Everyone is the mouse and we all just want cheese man.

GERD* 100% should get it looked at and try omeprazole, but there's a difference between just having heartburn and having GERD. GERD means there's an underlying reason that makes the heartburn chronic i.e. hiatal hernia, weak esophageal muscles, etc. You can also just have heartburn because you ate a meal that was too big or spicy, but that isn't really GERD by itself. Definitely consult a doctor too, don't want to just self medicate.

yo so i started playing league 3 years ago after being a super competitive overwatch player, caring abt my rank and everything so much, and i think with league especially in those like drop 30 kills but still lose games i really focus on the fun and the dopamine u get from getting the kills. league is unique bc u can "win" lane but still lose the game, but u still feel miserable bc u lost. my fix to this was just abstaining from ranked until i knew i was good, and 500 lvls later i still havent touched rank. i know thats sort of casual cuck of me but i play the game a lot still, but the fun of the game is getting fed and getting kills =/ rank. hearing nick talk abt this is interesting bc his motivation to play the game IS to get good, not for fun. i think thats also why smurfs beat their shit so much to new players, bc they are the ultimate retiree players. i rlly hope u two do the race it would be fun to watch :) the game can be so so so so cool n fun but if u let urself get into the toxic mindset where fun = winning ur gonna be miserable so fast. i had a friend who was like that and i lowkey stopped playing league with them bc of it, ik its different bc theres no number elo going up or down but i think an abistanance of care can make the game less suicidal imo. but also thats just saying to care less and we all know white boys love too much and work too hard so what do i know

I thought the discussion about M2AF was interesting but I think it’s important to note that optimizing title and thumbnail means something very different to someone who’s starting from scratch than for someone who’s a member on The Yard. Like it’s a lot easier to make that artistic choice of choosing not-optimal titles and thumbnails when you have a potential audience of hundreds of thousands already willing to watch you. The idea that good enough content will always find its audience just doesn’t hold up the same when there are hundreds of channels that have been making banger videos weekly for years and are still stuck at ~10 views average

On the note of improving at things, I think one thing that effects a lot of the way that people improve is a lack of introspection as to what their training/playing volume is actually achieving for them. The reason people can do something for 1000 hours and still not be good OR do something for 100 and be insane is the difference in ability to extract value from the hours you do put in. Putting in the hours can be actively bad sometimes (in my opinion) when all that those hours are doing is reinforcing your current habits without focusing on your underlying decision making. It also takes some introspection to figure out what kind of practice is needed for the current ways you’re looking to get better cause it’s all based on your own brain. There’s a lot of “one size fits all” practice regimens that will probably help you improve but they can’t tell you how to rewire your own brain to get past roadblocks when the improvement stops.

Coming back to just say, this conversation that Nick and Slime started about content creation and the struggles of not "being called gay" was REALLY helpful to hear. I'm 36, I've been making "content" for years. Most of it unpaid but I do sex work so there's an aspect of it that does make money. But the whole struggle of putting something out and asking yourself "Why do I even bother? Who am I to be doing this?" and I think of the people I look up to or friends seeing it and laughing or comparing it to their own accomplishments and it stops me from making all types of things. Not just content. Arts and crafts, music, painting, job opportunities. Being able to listen to people who have had real experience and success in making content break this stuff down really helps humanize the emotions and realize it is all in my head. Cheers ya'll. Got my $5 worth for sure this month.
