The convo at 57:13 is funnily something they should try in Vegas. My wife and I ate at a restaurant that is fully dark there. You cant see even an inch in front of you. Its a tasting menu where you don't know whats coming next. Actually quite fun. The servers wear night vision goggles and describe how to eat/find each course. Since then we’ve gotten like 200 more episodes and the guy presenting had to leave out tons of both major and minor details. I have played/watched baseball my entire life and while ohtani definitely is a part of baseballs revival it’s not the whole story the games were way to long there was so much downtime of people just standing around for like 5 min at a time made it practically unwatchable because who is gonna carve out 4 and a half hours of their day to sit down and watch people stand around and do nothing and when there was action it wasn’t that exciting. fast forward to now the games are hours less than they were before the players are actually allowed to express themselves and be like flashy and stylish and pretty much made baseball cool again to kids. in short ohtani definitely helped but he wasn’t the only reason baseball is back to being trendy . also yeah unwritten rules are dumb as shit anyone under like 40 hates them the only people who talk about them are the boomers who are upset the players are having fun

I think the reason esports die is because the game studio owns the ip and can demand money from tournaments or simply not allow them at all. LoL as an esport cannot exist if Riot does not exist. Whereas normal sports aren't owned by anyone, you can just go and form your own league and run tournaments, there are big established leagues sure but they don't own the sport. Also this is imo why CS is the goat of esports, Valves license explicitly allows you to run tournaments and form leagues and monetize them however you want without paying a dime to them (you also don't need to use their servers or need permission). Which is why even when esports were and still kinda are slumping compared to the peak CS was basically unaffected, it didn't really lose players or viewers and it didn't really lose prize pools, because it was already self sufficient in a way LoL or Rocket League are not and will not ever be. So until the day companies treat their games like real sports to the same degree valve has it's very unlikely any stick around in a major way, besides CS and probably DOTA though DOTA has other issues that could kill it. Also worth noting esports have other issues with being reliant on a particular game being popular but if that game isn't like melee or CS where it is kinda timeless eventually regardless of IP the sport might die because nobody cares to watch or play. Which is the bucket I think both LoL and DOTA will eventually fall into, as MOBA's are not a genre suited to that timelessness, though it might take a decade or two for them to actually die.

And yeah the lifespan of a lot of K-Pop groups, they stop being relevant within 5-7 years I would say. A lot go under sooner, but you just never hear about them after maybe a song or two. Red Velvet actually still does pretty well all things considered for how long they have been around and the minor controversy they had with Irene and the hair stylist I believe it was.

Native new yorker, there are definitely both bad bagels places and bad pizza places, especially in manhattan. The bagel place nearest to my apartment is pretty ass and this issue has increased over the years as more trendy places pop up and the quality slides. The reason people’s career are essentially over at 23 when it comes to rocket league is that each new younger 18-19 pro is somehow almost always significantly better cause the game gets new tech every so often and some older rocket league players that used to be goats just can’t keep up with the game evolving (to an extent not all pros fall off) I mean if you look at kronovi who was the goat for years just kinda fell off cause he either didn’t pit in the drive as much or just couldn’t keep up and evolve

When Mike Trout and Bryce Harper came in they revamped the league and gave it superstars again after the Jeter-Ortiz era. There were less known stars as well like Tim Lincecum or Albert Pujols but they brought major star power and hype

I think a big reason baseball is back is because they made the game shorter, the don't go over 3 hours much anymore, a lot less downtime. Superstars always help out sports but I think the rules to make it faster contributed to making it a lot more watchable side note: I think it's the ultimate sport to watch while multitasking, because if something cool happens the reply can show exactly what happened and it's not like football where the replays show an angle or two and doesn't always get to show the whole play before the next one.
