The Amish are deeply politically conservative especially here in Lancaster. I moved to Lancaster from SC. My barber flew confederate flags and talked openly about how he saw interracial marriages as wrong… that being said he was less racist than the Amish I work with now. I’ve never heard the N word used with such little reservation as I do when it comes with a Pennsylvania Dutch accent. Not all Amish are racist, but when you live in white onclaves and your only narratives come from Ben Shapiro, Fox News and worse, it’s easy to see how deeply regressive views continue in the Amish community

Hey Lud, I've been studying Chinese for a while and have a method you might like. I strongly recommend the Immersive Chinese app. It's perfect for beginners and probably my favorite language learning app ever. Another mandatory app is Pleco. Add every word you learn to your Pleco flashcards (very easy) and study them when you can. You can just use Immersive Chinese and Du Chinese (app) to learn new words and Pleco to review them; and that'll get you pretty far. I found learning Chinese like this actually very easy and very fun, and just way way better than anything else. Please make sure Lud sees this!

Registered Nurse here. As wonderful as piss is, it unfortunately is not sterile. Urine almost always has bacteria in it; either in low enough counts to not cause an infection, or opportunistic pathogens. Opportunistic pathogens being bacteria that are fine in one part of the body but problematic in another. The classic examples being staph infections fighters get or E. Coli. Like anything else, there are old order folks who still do absolutely no electricity, they heat their homes with horse manure under their houses through the winter.
