Spoiler: she's actually Number 2 Model E, "E" for Executioner ... an "assassin" model designed to remove / silence other androids when they "know too much" . Her "Battle" model status is a disguise, her mission was supposed to "silence" the high-end "Scanner" model - Number 9 Model S, 9S when he learnt "too much" ... but she started to develop feelings for 9S, and the rest is history.
