If you did a remake today with Melissa McCarthy, Tina Fey, and Amy Schumer, you’d get…well, you’d get the sour, negative, unfunny Ghostbusters remake. But for a late 70’s movie literally soapboxing glass-ceiling paranoia that All Male Bosses are Dabney Coleman and Sterling Hayden, it’s surprising how SWEET and funny it could still be. 😊. Yes, even with Lily Tomlin doing a cheap female Disney-bash. That’s an innocence we lost when comedy tried to be Important.

I'm a big fan of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet are so good. Plus, it won best original screenplay at the Oscars in 2005. That is a fantastic suggestion.

Fight club, Oldboy, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind sound like they’d make a great WTF triple feature. :) the late 90’s early aughts could be a weird time in cinema. At least to my knowledge.

I am SOOOO happy you watched this! I know you struggled because of your experience with the play, but so many moments of perfection. It is the magical trifecta of Dolly, Jane and Lilly. Can't beat it. Jane and Lilly fought for a long time to make this movie. So glad you enjoyed it!

The candy girls that you talked about back in the day were called Candy Stripe Girls. They were all of the assistants in the hospitals and they were all college aged girls. And in the song 9 To 5 if you listen real carefully at the beginning, they have an old fashion typewriter for the beat.
