Speaking of Sesame Street I wonder what Ashleigh would think of "Follow That Bird" (it's actually quite similar to the Muppet Movie, in that it's a road trip adventure movie, with lots of cameos)

You should watch the Disney's 1950 "Treasure Island" before you watch the Muppets version to get a handle on what they are parodying.
