Suggestions for Hallowbeans Light Hearted: Ernest Scared Stupid, since you're already familiar. In the dark: SAW, original from 2004. not sure if it has ever been in a poll but I would think it would be a top contender.

Cabin in the Woods - came in 2nd two years ago and you have seen enough horror movies to understand the references. Trick R' Treat - horror anthology that may be a little confusing but is still fun. The Final Girls - little horror comedy starring Taissa Farmiga from American Horror Story. This little gem is a lot of fun and references the Friday the 13th films with their killer Billy. The Descent - perfect for night vision and even better if you are at least a little bit claustrophobic. Almost an all-female cast except for a brief male role in the beginning of the film.

I’d suggest the original made for tv movie Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark (1980) because I remember it scared the crap out of me as a kid, but part of me thinks it may not have held up (it was made for tv and I WAS just a kid)

Oh look! An impromptu Hallobeans suggestion thread. Here are mine: 1) A Double Feature of Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein. They are both relatively short and play as one movie. 2) The SWEDISH version of "Let The Right One In". It's hauntingly beautiful and it is so worth the subtitles. HAPPY HALLOBEANS!

Would love to see some classic Vincent Price movies on the channel. When I was a kid his films were always popular at Halloween. I would suggest The Pit and the Pendulum, House of Wax, The Indomitable Dr Phibes, House on Haunted Hill and my favorite The Witchfinder General (released as The Conquerer Worm in the US.)
