And a useless pirate related fact for you: Robert Newton, who played Silver in the 1950s version, is credited with making the English West Country accent the default "pirate accent", as he was from Dorset.

I think some of the cameos you're probably not recognizing are people like Billy Connoly as Billy Bones and Jennifer Saunders as Mrs Bluberidge. They're British stand-up comedians and comic actors; Connoly has been in a few high profile movies though (he was in The Boondock Saints). The line "I coulda been a contender" is a reference to the film "On the Waterfront" with Marlon Brando; it's his most famous line from it (one of his most famous lines in general).

As to what he is, Gonzo is a Weirdo. I don't think it is canon, but he is referred to as a Weirdo by Piggy in Muppet Babies pretty often.

In terms of muppet movies after this the main ones are Muppets from Space (1999), The Muppets (2011), and Muppets Most Wanted (2014). Thatās the rest of the main Muppet movies and those films are all really entertaining.
