I hope you are posting the buffy episodes in bulk, and angel to follow, but that in real life you are watching them in the correct order, to avoid spoilers.

As an Angel hater, I will say he does get better in his own series and it definitely has some great moments and iconic buffyverse characters, but I might be the outlier here and say that you're fine not watching it if you don't want to. There are some cool tie-ins, but I frankly don't think it's life or death if you don't head over there.

I did watch Buffy first and not watching Angel didn't stop me loving it. However having watched Angel since there are some really good cross overs in Buffy S4/Angel S1 that I wish I had seen in the proper order. Then some smaller ones in Buffy S5/Angel S2 that were nice to see. So you can watch them and enjoy them in any order but if I could go back I would watch both series together in order. I would also say Angel the character evolves a lot during his show that the actor and character wasn't really allowed to on Buffy.

I think watch the 1st season of Angel using the guide on viewing order to watch with Buffy season 4. There's a heap of links to Buffy in season 1 and a major crossover/story arc. I think you'll be surprised.

Angel was pretty great as a show, had some fun storylines and some fantastic characters, maybe don't have to watch them together but I wouldn't miss the show.
