How to Train your Dragon was the winner of the animation poll - so it got moved to make top Secret work out and to be honest... I've watched Top Secret! with Blake since filming it for the channel because I thought it was that hilarious - and he was LAUGHING HIS ASS OFF.
Also also - during April we started The Hunger Games and they have just been such flawless and exciting movies for me - I REALLY wanted to round off the series since there was only one left. Thank you to those who have enjoyed the ride because I am simply obsessed with them - I plan on starting the books once I finish the current series I'm on. (The Handmaid series by Frieda McFadden)
Franchise Friday winner was ALIEN - AND I AM SO FUCKING PUMPED. I loved the first two when I first started the channel about 4 years ago. Just a reminder - I love watching series/franchises how YOU experienced them - in release order. So if you think one of them is shitty and I should skip it - too bad I'mma watch it because I want to find out for myself. I am keeping them in order of my favorite alien movies in my outros of each review in case you wanna compare notes lol.
ALSO A REMINDER THAT April is my birthday month so the choices were all movies that IIII really wanted to watch - so of course they were newer! I have seen many expressing their discontent with choices recently so I wanted to remind you of that - that is kind of just an April exclusive. The Memorial Day poll had a movie from the 40's, one from the 70's, and 2 from the 80's on there - sorry a movie from 2016 won but I have since recorded that film. If I had changed the poll, I would have missed out on one hell of an amazing film but also an incredible true story that made me sob like a baby.
I say alllllll that to say - I see your comments and moving forward for Millennial Movie Mondays I will make sure there are more older choices on the polls - also keep in mind that 2000 was 25 years ago - so some of those films are starting to be considered "OLD MOVIES" 🥲

I agree - this is a great dystopian movie. The Kurt / Carpenter magic is high quality. Kurt gives grunting and coolness in a close to campy way and it is perfect! I think this could be a hit or miss for Ashleigh, because of the slow pace but may the power of Kurt carry her through and let her ride the wave of craziness that is the 80's action movies

Escape from New York 1981 Directed by John Carpenter Starring Kurt Fucking Russell, Isaac Hayes, Donald Pleasance, Harry Dean Stanton, Adrienne Barbeau, and a special voice acting appearance by Jamie Lee Curtis. I cannot recommend this strongly enough. If I recommended it any harder, I would change the gravitational constant of the universe. That's awful messy to clean up.

A Stir of Echoes is a good Kevin Bacon film, but I gotta say his performance in Murder in the First (1995) is top notch! :)
