If you want to hear bad Texas (Southern) accents, watch Varsity Blues! 😂 As a Texan watching it, it was a bit cringe, but seeing cutie Paul Walker helped. It’s a fun movie I hope you watch someday. Some iconic and memorable scenes.

It’s strange revisiting these old episodes knowing that Xander and Dawn later end up together in the comic continuation. Sure, she’s an adult by then—but he literally babysat her. That context makes it feel uncomfortable, even unsettling. And after everything we learned about Joss Whedon in later years, it all feels heavier. There was a time when he seemed like a creative hero, a voice for outsiders and nuance. Finding out who he really was felt like a personal betrayal. The magic of his work dimmed under the weight of his hypocrisy.
