Void's Calling ep.2 v.0.2
🕑 Added 2021-04-10 14:26:21 +0000 UTCIt’s finally here. We’ve released the second update for the second episode of our game. It was a long road of trial and error but we did it. We’re truly happy that we can share it with you now.
Important:
- The special event for 40$+ patrons will be released later on as a standalone addition.
- The final quest is not where it should be. As we keep adding new content, it will be moved to better reflect the proper position.
- We did not have time to test import of saves, we hope you can help us with that. Those of you, who do not have saves, can use «quick start» option.
- The combat system is partially ready but it still requires some tweaking. We have disabled this feature for this version of the game.
List of changes:
1) First of all, this episode adds about 34k of words. The update turned out big even though it was not our intention for various reasons. The game has 53,947 words in it. It is almost half the size of the first episode.
2) Secondly, we have made 1234 static renders and 11 animations. There is one animation consisting of 200 frames. There is also one animation with 300 frames, but it is not ready yet, it will be in the public release.
3) One of the final quests of this episode is finished. It just happened, it was a simple side quest at first, focused on one character, however, it grew into something bigger over time.
- We have not included all completed quests in this build. Some of them will be added later on
- There are a lot of dead ends in this update. Some of the options you choose will lead to the end of the game simply because we have not finished those branches. If you accidentally choose such an option, please, load the latest autosave.

Future plans:
We plan to return to our roots. Forlan was trying to find Kagera off-screen, we would like to change that. Maybe we will add options to finish the purification ritual and unveil vampires’ story. Moreover, Ilga invited you to live with her and it was probably a bad idea to leave it off-screen. Forlan will return to sort of an open world while Kagera’s structure of events will remain the same.
I want to remind you that this all is just our plans, but we are already working on them.
Вот наконец, это случилось, и мы выпустили второе обновление для эпизода с таим же номером. Это было непросто, оно рождалось в муках, проб и ошибок. Не знаем, как вы, а мы очень рады, что наконец можем им с вами поделиться.
- Специальный эвент для патронов 40 + выйдет позже, отдельной сборкой игры.
- Финальный эвент, сейчас стоит не на своем месте, по мере заполнения игры контентом, мы его переместим туда, где он должен быть.
- Импорт сохранений, мы не спели протестировать, надеемся на вашу помощь. Те, у кого нет сохранений, могут воспользоваться «настройкой старта».
- Боевая система частично готова, но еще требует настройки, так что в этой версии драки отключены.
Список изменений:
1) Во-первых, эпизод два прибавил почти 26.5 тысяч слов. Обновление вышло большим, по разным причинам, но мы не хотели делать его таким. Сейчас в игре 44688 слов, это чуть меньше половины (если ориентироваться на первый эпизод)
2) Во-вторых, мы сделали 1234 арта, а так же 11 анимаций. Из них есть анимации, по 200 кадров. Одна анимация на 300 кадров не готова, но она войдет в публичную версию.
3) Сделан, один из финальных эвентов эпизода. Хотя, это получилось совершенно случайно, изначально это был небольшой побочный эвент, направленный на раскрытие персонажей. Но затем вырос, в нечто большее.
- Не все из готовых на данный момент Эвентов вошли в обновление. Они будут добавлены позднее.
- В обновлении имеется много заглушек. Часть вариантов в финальном эвенте ведет к завершению игры, поскольку продолжение у них не готового. Если вы случайно выбрали данный вариант, загрузите ближайшее автосохранение.
Планы:
Мы планируем вернуться к истокам. Раньше Форлан искал Кагеру за кадром, мы хотим это изменить. Возможно завершить очищение и раскрыть историю вампиров. Так же, Ильга пригласила нас пожить у нее и наверно плохо, что это осталось за кадром. Действия за Форлана, будут проходить в условно открытом мире, действие за Кагеру, не изменится.
Напомню, что все это лишь планы, но мы уже над ними работаем.

I'm really looking forward to episode 2 after trying this preview; I loved: the ability to look for clues in the pictures (it brought me back 30yrs to the many memorable graphic adventures of Sierra) and more articulated dialogues. I hope we get the opportunity to see this system in use also without being told to do so by the game (i.e. you click on a small back ground detail and you get a new dialogue choice afterwards or you can unlock alternate paths). On the downside I was a bit disappointed by the final 'scene' both because of the lighting (something already experienced during the thief scene in ep.1) and the position that looked a bit awkward. This of course is just imho :) Keep up the good work!
