🕑 Added 2024-05-11 13:57:32 +0000 UTCAt the moment I can estimate the update is 80 % ready in terms of script and renders. However, additional scenes may be needed. Around 800 renders are finished and the work has slowed down a bit, as the final scene is more complicated than those I did before.
The main character of the update will be Kilena. She was voted for on Patreon. Another character that will get a lot of content and possibly the ending is Fiona. She wasn’t that popular in polls, but she fits well with the theme of the update. She is like a story link. Londa got some content as well. Her story was completed, but whether to make a full-fledged ending with her, I haven't decided yet. She's a popular character, even on Patreon, but for a proper ending we would need a few more scenes that aren't the easiest to make. A couple weeks extra is the minimum if I decide to give Forlan the opportunity. Currently, the volume of the update is already like half of the entire DLC, and I don't really want to increase the volume even more. On the other hand, the character is popular, interesting. I haven't decided yet how it will turn out, how the mood and inspiration will be. Why will Fiona get an ending, and Londa is still unclear? Because everything is set for Fiona, I don't need additional scenes for her.
After the release, before I continue working on the new game, I'll take a month for additional translations.
Spanish, French, Italian, German, Japanese. Right now, one person is translating into PT-BR. One girl used to translate into Spanish, but she stopped contacting me a long time ago, as it often happens. So, I'll have to do it myself. And to translate such volumes of text, even with the help of auto-translation, is not easy at all.
Please note:
- This will be a machine translation. But it will be easier to find a native speaker who can proofread the translation.
- I won't be able to finish the translation into all the language within a month. These are just general plans.
As you realize, the only option to make translations of the game is to stop producing content for a while. I do most of the project alone, and the most important thing is the art (= the renders). Without them, there will be no game. There are quite a few projects with 2 and 3 artists, and they can work much faster. However, even there the developer often writes that he works alone😊, but my style is not that hard to recognize, even if I changed the name, I think an attentive player would recognize the hand of the “master” 😊
Saw a negative review recently that our game is not a novella, just pictures and text. More and more scenes have animations and apparently people are expecting the entire game to be full 3D animations instead of pictures. We live in interesting times... At this rate, soon we will be required to make games with the quality of AAA level games that cost 80 dollars.
In general, if I have to do something other than renders, all work stops. No one will do it for me. Even as I'm writing this post, I'm not making new renders. Same reason I'm not returning to and refining old games where you desperately need achievements. All that costs time. And if they weren’t added earlier, what’s the point of doing it now? It requires new code and that means new potentials bugs.
An important thing to mention, before the release of the update, I will raise the price of the DLC. For those who already bought it (which is probably everyone who reads this post), nothing will change. For new players, the new price will better reflect the amount of content in the DLC. I think this is fair, however, it is unlikely that there will be many new sales. The main portion of sales happens at release. But in the current time, every extra dollar helps.

На текущий момент готовность с точки зрения арта и сценария могу оценить на 80%. Однако возможно понадобятся дополнительные сцены. Готовы примерно 800 артов, работа несколько замедлилась, так как финальная сцена сложнее чем те, что я делал ранее.
Основным персонажем дополнения станет Килена. За неё проголосовали на патреон. Много контента и возможно финал получит Фиона. За неё не голосовали, но она хорошо вписалась в идею дополнения. Она является сюжетным связующим звеном. Контент получила Лонда, её историю мы в целом завершили, однако делать ли с ней полноценный финал, я ещё не решил. Она популярный персонаж и в голосовании на патреон, но для финала, нужно еще несколько не самых простых сцен. Пара недель — это минимум, если я решу дать такую возможность для Форлана. Итак объем дополнения уже как половина всего DLC и увеличивать объем ещё сильнее не очень хочется. С другой стороны, персонаж популярный, интересный. Пока не решил, как получится, как будет настроение и вдохновение. Почему Фиона получит финал, а на счет Лонды я сомневаюсь? Потому что для Фионы все готово, мне не нужны дополнительные сцены.
После релиза, до того как продолжить работу над новой игрой, я возьму месяц на переводы.
В планах Испанский, Французский, Итальянский, Немецкий, Японский. Сейчас один человек переводит на PT-BR. Одна девушка переводила на Испанский, но давно перестала выходить на связь, как часто бывает. Так что придется самому этим заниматься. А перевести такие объемы текста, даже через автоперевод, процесс не быстрый.
Прошу учесть:
– Это будет машинный перевод. Но с ним будет проще найти носителя который сможет вычитать перевод.
– За месяц я не смогу перевести на все заявленные языки. Это лишь общие планы.
Как вы понимаете, единственный вариант как сделать переводы игры, это остановить производство контента на некоторое время. Я один делаю большую часть проекта, и самое главное – арт. Без артов, игры не будет. Есть немало проектов, где и 2 и 3 художника, у них всё по–быстрее. Впрочем даже там разработчик часто пишет, что работает один😊, но мою стилистику сложно не узнать, даже если я сменил бы имя, думаю внимательный игрок узнал бы руку «мастера» 😊
Видел негативный отзыв, что наша игра — это не новелла, а просто картинки и текст. Я все чаще вижу, большое количество анимированных сцен и видимо люди ждут, что едва ли не вся новелла будет полноценным 3D видео, вместо картинок. В интересное время мы живем… Такими темпами, скоро от нас будут требовать уровень ААА игр за 80 долларов.
В общем, если нужно сделать что–то помимо арта, то останавливается вся работа. Никто за меня её не сделает. Даже пока я пишу этот пост, я не делаю новый арт. По той же причине и руководство и доработка старых игр, где вам позарез нужны ачивки. Все это время. Ну небыли они предусмотрены ранее, смысл сейчас этим заниматься? Код переделывать, баги новые добавлять.
Важный момент, до релиза дополнения, я подниму на него цену. Для тех кто купил (а это наверняка все кто читает эту новость), ничего не изменится. Для новых покупателей, цена будет в соответствии с объемами контента всего DLC. Я думаю это справедливо, впрочем вряд ли много будет новых продаж. Основные продажи идут на релизе. Но в текущее время, каждый лишний доллар не лишний.

Well, in my opinion, there's never a truer word said than in the saying; "you'll never please all of the people all of the time", especially these days, amongst the increasingly critical and intolerant element of the audience who want what they want and expect nothing less, regardless of the effort and cost incurred by someone else, and all in return for the very obvious fraction of the price you would expect to charge for the time and creative effort necessary to produce fully animated content. I am, though no doubt in a minority, happy enough with this genre in its basic static visual form. I'm personally neither in favour of, nor thus far at least, overly impressed by the inclusion of animation at all in these novels. In doing some of the "work" for them, animation seems akin to a kind of crutch for feebler imaginations. I personally enjoy, just as with the wonder of reading a book, the (here lesser) exercise my imagination gets in adding the fluidity in my mind as my eyes absorb the visual beauty of each successive supremely crafted render in your artistry. The quality, especially the lighting, in your rendering is absolutely superlative, second-to-none in fact, and the way you handle the light and shadow adds amazing atmosphere to the darker moody or emotionally disconcerting scenes throughout is more often than not simply breath taking. Some renders are, to me, almost like looking at the old, hand-painted canvass masterpieces and, in so saying, I seek not to exaggerate in the slightest the degree of admiration I feel of such unique and consummate artistry that you produce in this particular field of creativity. I hope you will never change direction (away, at least) or lose heart or hope and will continue to persevere even in the face of such depressing lack of appreciation of your true abilities and artistic aptitude in this unique literary (the illustrated novel) genre.
