Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

You may want to consider adding that as Kaius sensed the amount of mana in the Skill (the one where the tusks launch blades), and extrapolating (or assuming) the uppermost rarity of the skill [you would have to explain somewhere else that rarity of skills act as a multiplier {or other relationship, such as increased efficiency, or -more directly- improved spell architecture} to the amount of mana invested], Kaius KNEW instinctively that he could take on at least one of those blades. With his battle experience, he had gained a sense for this. He then REVELED in pitting himself against that skill (you already have this part in there) and besting it. The sensing of the amount of mana invested would have a twofold purpose: (1) what he is doing is not 'stupidly' blind risk taking purely for the thrill of it (this will clearly get him killed sooner rather than later, statistically), but instead a more measured risk taking (which I personally understand and vastly prefer). (2) He is gaining experience in feeling out skills that are used against him and developing his ability to take their measure, that is to learn measure/feel out skills based on his mana sense - a very valuable ability, I would imagine.

"Planting his foot as he stepped as far out of the path of the attack, he rolled his shoulders and slammed his blade into it hard." I think that should say something like as he stepped as far out of the path of the attack as he could, he rolled his shoulders

Agree, his distraction timing is impeccable, considering he's deathly afraid.

Aureus

"his brother’s own Song alighting in unison with his own." The first "own" makes the second feel awkward to say.

"the beast turned its head to look at him with what could only be described as shock. " I am feeling sorry for the beast. This beast is sapient creature who was just minding his business grazing on grass when two violent MC's attacked him. Just simply go back to the depths if you want psychos to kill. Leave grazing beasts alone who are not bothering anyone. Hope the beast takes a few more of Kaius fingers as compensation for [Unprovoked Murder]

Rick

Awesome job

If I had any criticism of your writing, it'd be you have a tendency to drag fights out a bit too long - this would be a satisfying one-parter. That said, epic, fun, and my goodness do they need to recruit Ianmus permanently. Forget everything else, a support who can reliably hit those clutch shots is worth their weight in gold.

Yay Bacon for Brunch!
