"THe force was undeniable." extra capital letter

"Every time he lashed one of the stone pillars, two additional arches" i think that should say arcs not arches

That's like... exactly what I said just above

Thanks for the chapter.

But Kaius isn’t just trying to guide the lightning bounces here? He’s practising the implementation of will into his spells, and this is simply the easiest one to practice with. He’s training a long term useful skill, and this is the training method.

Awesome! Can't wait to see it!

He's not going to use glyphs, BUT I do have something planned for him that we've seen a few hints of. Expect to see it become more defined in book 3

yohan gu

I’d say that’s extremely niche. Bounces have not been detrimental to him thus far and he struck the back line shaman without trouble. I’d say this is a manufactured exercise just to train his control, which may have other genuinely useful applications in the future

this time one of long segments hanging -> one of the THe force -> The Delightful, tftc

I dont think he's working on targeting the initial blast, which you're right hasn't been a problem. From the description here, he's trying to work on guiding how the lightening chains to multiple targets, which has been completely random thus far. Thats a pretty straightforward power-up if he can figure it out, as he could guide an arc through a front line to target a specific back-liner or focus everything on a couple immediate threats.

yohan gu

Not sure if Kaius’ training is effective, targeting was never a relevant problem for stormlash and there are better things to do to level the glyph, like leveling resonance amplification and primus ordo at the same time. But this kind of manipulation can maybe open the way to something truly powerful down the line, so I’m eager for new developments on that front. Still, so many other skills that directly and greatly help him fight to level…

zetorian

I'm a bit curious if Ianmus will ever work in some glyph binding of his own. I doubt it'd ever be a mainstay, but as he leans more and more into long channel manipulation, it seems like it could be super useful for him to have a small glyph with maybe 1 or 2 defensive spells so he has a 'get out of jail free' card if something changes rapidly during a long cast. And frankly, I could absolutely see the system having some sort of 'mage of the three pilars' class somewhere. Manipulation for the mainstay and finishers, some channeled spells to serve as the basis for complex works like he did here, and a couple of pocket glyphic hymns for emergency stuff. Seems far to balenced for that not to be a thing.

TheLionOfThePacific

Mini training arc with a sprinkle of Ianmus Perspective character development. Although if I'm reading bacons intentions correctly the entirety of book 2 is essentially one long ass training arc.
