Epic Day or Frustration

Spent about three hours writing the night 8 scenes to bring us into day 9. Trying to figure out where I put it, but I have this growing fear that I simply closed it without saving, . . . .If I did, then I'm going to be mad as hell with myself, but at least on the up sideI know the scene's flow well enough that I should be able to rewrite it in about half the time a second time if it comes to that.
My computer has decided its not going to do what I want it to. I've got about a week to figure out what is preventing my making proper use of bitbucket before it affects anything, but its still frustrating.
Short version? I kicked ass today, then ended up having NOTHING to show for it.
Now, to step away from everything for a little bit, then if time permits I'll try to restart that scene again this evening.
UPDATE:
In brighter news, it looks like the problem that got me wound up in the first place has been resolved, now I just need to rewrite that scene, . . . .
UPDATE 2:
Started writing, or rather rewriting, the scene from earlier. Knocked out maybe 15-20% of what I had previously written (Scene was probably about 80% complete when I lost it.) I think its turning out good, but I'm lacking the same enthusiasm I felt the first time I wrote it, so I'm going to sit it down and try to finish it up tomorrow.

You can configure it to do spell checking and autosave quite easily, as well as a ton of other useful features. I had something similar happen a while back with np++. Turns out there's a plugin for autosaving that has kept me from doing it again. Honestly though, I'd move over to a better editor. Visual Studio Code has been working great for me. I can send you my custom syntax extension for sugarcube/html if you'd like.

Yes it does, but it only seems to hold the most recent item that was unsaved. I have a bad habit of keeping several things open at any given time instead of being responsible and saving things as I finish working on them before opening the next file. In my defense, I can count the number of times this has happened in the last three years on the fingers of one hand (Can you believe I've been writing Wanton Cove for close to three years now? First release was January of 15') I make use of NotePad++ on the grounds that its the same program most of our Inheritance teem makes use of and by all of us using the same program, we feel it avoids some potential problems. On the up side, the issue that got me flustered in the first place has been resolved, so there's that at least.

Hm. Long time since I used Notepad++, but doesn't it have a "reopen closed file" function? SublimeText has that, and I think Notepad++ does too? Should be available even after reopening the program after shutting it down (but just as long as you haven't restarted the computer, as it relies on temp-folder saves, as far as I remember). If not, I would suggest maybe trying out Sublime. It's a marvelous editor as well, the reason I stopped using Notepad++, actually.

It was my own fault. Had the file open in NotePad++ and opened another text file. Was having some trouble with the new file with something and I'm pretty sure I closed the wrong file without saving out of frustration. If that's what happened, then it prompted me and I just didn't look at the file name before closing it out without saving. Its got me mad (Mostly at myself) but I have no one to blame but myself. Here's to a better day tomorrow!

Life happens. Its frustrating, but when its all said and done, its three hours of work. Compared to what has gone into the game so far, its almost nothing. When something like this happens, I'll get upset, have to force myself to start writing again, but by the time I'm half way done with it again I'll hit my stride and be fine. In the big scheme of things, I've only lost about half a good day's work.

I dunno what you use to write, but I would suggest auto-saving, or using a program that will keep your documents between sessions (so if you close without saving, it will either ask you, or just open them again when you start again).
