New Pledge Level?
🕑 Added 2018-07-01 01:31:45 +0000 UTC Since this idea has come up a couple of times in the past, and I had someone suggest it again just a little while ago, I thought it was worth bringing up and seeing what everyone thought.I am thinking about setting up a high pledge level. Probably $100. What people would receive for this is that they would have the ability to request a scene be written for any of my current projects.
This pledge level would be limited to two members (At least at first. If it's easy to keep up with these requests without compromising progress elsewhere, then I may expand it to allow for an additional member or two.) and would allow the patron who has pledged at that level to request a single scene to be written each month so long as they maintain that pledge level.
The rules and expectations would be simple:
-I would make a post for this level's patrons at the start of each month. Patrons at this level could then either comment to that post with their scene idea, or message me privately to do so. I would plan to have the scene completed inside of the month.
-The scene has to fit the setting, and the character(s) involved in the scene.
-The scene can be for any game I am actively working on (Right now that would include Inheritance or The Allure of Wanton Cove).
-The scene should be a stand alone scene, or an extension to an existing scene. It should not require supporting content in order to work unless that supporting content is already in the game. No banking up requests in order to request multiple scenes at once.
-Scenes would be a minimum of 2.5k words of content, but could potentially be much larger (I write scenes and try to make them feel natural. When I start to write, I usually have an idea of how big the scene will be, but sometimes they can be smaller, or much larger, it just depends on what it becomes when I start to write. Should a scene ever be smaller than the minimum, I will contact the patron asking for a second scene request if that's what I need to do in order to hit that minimum. I strongly suspect that most scenes will be in the 3-5k range for this.)
I would love to hear people's thoughts on this. If there seems to be interest then I'll set up the pledge level.

I figure I treat it as supply and demand. I had three people vote that they planned to pledge at that level. So that's where I started. If no one pledges in a month, I'll bump it down a little. ;)

I'm with CTCC42 on this, very few of us will ever have the disposable income to pay that monthly. I would put it at higher than $20, obviously, but still under the $100 mark, maybe $50 or $75? Something in the middle so that both sides are satisfied.

Completely understood. I figured that it would be a fairly small number of potential pledges at that level, but it gives people a chance to have something specific written that they might like assuming anyone opts to contribute at that level. Hopefully it works out, someone will get scenes that they want specifically.
My selection of 'Not interested in this pledge level' was determined by the fact that I am a realist. Realistically I will never have enough disposable income, not even 'Some Day'. But I actually approve of the idea. I hope it motivates people to contribute more to your funding. I wonder if it will. I don't see a problem if it doesn't. If the same number of people end up contributing at or above the $100 threshold that would have any way then the tightwads such as myself are not hurt any. New content is new content, whether the inspiration comes from something you saw on TV, a Patron's suggestion or divine inspiration, I don't see that it makes much difference. So any way. Good luck.

There seems to be at least some authentic interest in this pledge level, so I went ahead and set it up. Now to see what happens!
