kneeling down like that at a person's feet is a big thing in thai culture that you do to show respect and honor someone. and from my understanding you are not supposed/expected to do that for anyone other than your parents/elderly folks, royal family, and religious figures. hence why it is being used as a degrading punishment here. and if you recall it is what kang asked sailom to do when he was still in his bully era (lmao) and sailom spit on his feet instead.
