Moonlight Chicken came close. Honestly if I had to sit through another Thai BL with nonstop sound effects (Moos, cow bell, blinks) I was going crazy. Five years of listening to it, is too much. Such a relief! This is truly a love letter to Bangkok. I have heard they shot this on an iPhone, likely using some advanced rigs and shot in Log for better color grading, but this style really gives a documentary vibe. I also really like the BTS as a coming age moment of 'freedom'. Many Western teenagers get access to a car at 16, and seeing our Gelboy use his newfound freedom to find himself a faen and after school freedom is a right of passage for any teen. Lets hope our cringe hero can keep up with the games being played!

I'm telling you, it's absolutely amazing. The whole script, the characters, the setting, the dialogue, it's all so realistic and honest. The story is super modern, like if it was set in 2025, but the way it's filmed, the way it uses space, the sounds of the city, all the visuals make it feel like indie cinema from the 1990s. So, it's modern and up to date, but at the same time, it feels really nostalgic. I've already watched it three times and I'm loving it more each time.

It's amazing how universal some of our experiences and feelings are, because what do you mean this show made my old, european ass nostalgic? this show feels like a nice breath of fresh air, I'm obsessed after just one episode.

Yay!!! I’m already obsessed with them! Love the aesthetics and the whole vibe. I’m not sure what it is, but I genuinely enjoy when a show incorporates the subway into its storyline. It feels more like real urban life to me, like I already know the city more

To be honest, I didn't want to watch this series. I wasn't really interested. BUT if you're watching it, then I had to at least take a look... 😉🤪 And I really had to smile the whole episode because YES... that's exactly how it was at that age when you had a crush... I recognize a lot of myself in him...🤣

sorry if this is too personal but watching this series makes me mourn for something i never had. the characters are the same age i was when COVID happened, things got normal around my senior year of high school but because of that i never had the classic high school experience. i wish i got to experience queer love in high school, i wish i was able to have those experiences of being so ridiculous and embarassing for someone i liked. i know people are gonna say i can still have that in university but it’s different. idk how to explain it but it feels like these experiences are just so connected to being a 14-17 and experiencing life for the first time edit: it’s not even just queer love, seeing them walk home from school in a big group of friends in a crowded city is also so bittersweet to watch knowing i only got to experience that for a year at best. i feel like this show is gonna hurt me and heal me at the same time 😅

i definitely agree that the show feels different, i've never been to thailand but i feel like this is more accurate depiction and feeling of what the city life is like (especially as a student). as someone from nyc, i've seen plenty of shows be set here but its rare for any movies/shows to capture the feeling and city life of new york even when they portray it as a bustling city.
