This year we gave our 3 year old niece a trip to the aquarium for her, her parents and us to all spend time together, but I think we'll be opening a 529 plan for her starting next year and making annual birthday contributions in addition to doing family outings.

Great overtime podcast, loved the suggestion of contributing to a child's college fund. I appreciated all those "boring" savings bonds I got as a kid when I was 21 and paying for my last year of college!
