(Preview) Romantic Complaints | Sims 4 Mods

This mod has been in the making for a long time for now, some of the main features were Broken due to a game update and I was frustrated with it for so long, it felt like I was never gonna finish it But thankfully I have managed to solve most of the core issues and here we are now,
So let's quickly start with it since this post will be a big one, and just a small note: even if it's a straightforward mod, there is a lot to it, so it's better to read the description to understand fully how everything works.
You can think of this mod as a Romance/Drama Mod, the mod will focus on both aesthetics and will try to enhance you're romantic gameplay,
Mod Description:
The Romantic Complain Mod will simply give your Sims the ability to have some Romantic Confrontations and Complaints.
All the Animations are a mix between Mean interaction and romantic ones. The Sims will start by yelling and Arguing, and the animation will slowly shift toward some romantic physical intimacy animations.
The New Interactions are a Mix between the Mean interaction and the romantic ones, but they will count as Romantic interactions.
Before starting with mod descriptions, let's talk more about the animations and what my thought process was when making them; all the animations that I've created for this mod are inspired by scenes from my favorite movies and shows. You know, that moment near the climax when the protagonists face off in a heated confrontation and then reconcile with a passionate kiss? I’ve always wanted to create an animation like that for The Sims, but I didn't get the chance until now.
So, I've attempted to capture that moment. For each scenario, I toned down the intensity of the confrontation while keeping the same structure: shouting and arguing, followed by a make-up scene that will end with a kiss and a make-out.
The sim who starts the confrontation won't always be the one who initiates the make-up; it’ll depend entirely on the interactions and what felt appropriate in the moment.
There are some other details about the animations, but I will talk more about them later below.
So, in the same way, there is a Complaint menu in the friendship category. Now there's one in the Romantic category.
For the interactions to show up, you will need more than 30 in romance, also your Sims should already have their first Kiss.
All the new interactions/animations are for couples-related complaints and confrontation. You will find all of them in the Complaints Pie menu:
There are more than 20 new interactions, each with its own icon, animations, conditions, and outcomes.
You may be wondering where the rest of the interactions are, since only five are in the screenshots above. Well, that's because, as the Base game friendly complaints, the romantic complaints will also have their own conditions to appear;
So each couple will have their own Complaints and confrontations depending on their own relationship. So, for each couple on your save, they will have their own variety of different complaints.
Your Sims pie menu won't be overcluttered with over 20 new Interactions from the start.
As a side note, with how the Complain mod is working, it can serve as a relationship indicator to see how well your sim relationship is progressing.
If youre Sim, have an unsatisfying relationship, bad compatibility, and a relationship dynamic that is either Strained or Unpredictable, and also some toxic traits like maybe you are playing with a jealous Sim or a materialistic one. Well, they will have a lot of things to complain about
Complaints Interactions:
I have tried to cover Most Of the common Couple romantic Complaints, so you may find something for any Kind of Sims that you are playing with, and if you have any in mind, don't hesitate to tell me. so that they can be added to future updates.
If you hover over the interactions on the Romantic complaint pie menu, a tooltip explaining why they are shown will appear. So you will know where each complaint is coming from,
As I said, each interaction will have its own reason to appear, which will vary based on traits, recent behavior, and the relationship between Sims:
Most trait-related complaints are Permanent complaints since they are related to your sim.
Like Complain about not calling, which is related to the Jealous Trait
While other complaints can appear and disappear depending on the Sims relationship status or their recent behavior,
Like Confront about Feeling like just friend, from not getting into a proper relationship ( Engaged, spouse, partner) while the romance bar is high enough
Or Confront about wandering eyes, when the other sim is flirty all alone.
Some trait-related complaints can also appear or disappear depending on you're Sims behavior:
Like Complain about not being spoiled will appear if your Sim has the materialistic trait, but it won't appear if their partner is already spoiling them in the last Few Days, like giving them gifts, simoleons, or a gift from the Passionate Gift mod.
In some cases, you can find some couples that may not have any complaints since they don't have any traits that may cause complaints, or they have a good relationship. Well, there is a generic complaint that will always be available:
The Complain about Recent behavior, is a generic interaction that will always be available to your Sim.
And since it doesn't have any reason, I have added a specialty to it and I will talk more about it later
And also, there are some complaints that will appear while you are playing the game, which will depend on your Sims' actions and interactions.
Like Complain about neglecting romance that will appear if your hasn't had any Romantic interactions with their partner in a Sims day
Or Complain About suspicious behavior, which will appear if your sim partner has flirted with another sim
Or Complain about Dirty Surroundings, if you're sims house is messy or there is trash nearby,
I won't address each complaint since the post is already long and there is still more to talk about; you can experience them yourself in the game. Or, I might create a new post and Post all the complaints there, including a GIF preview for each one.
How will the interaction work?
The interactions in this mod are different from those of my other mods; all the new interactions will have a success and failure animation.
Well, my idea was to make it similar to some in-game romantic interactions, like the first kiss interactions or the misttloe one, where there is chance that your sim can fail,
So, the Complaints interactions will work the same way in that regard.
Successful interaction will lead to a kiss, your Sims will manage to resolve the complaint, and the interaction will end as a romantic interaction. and They will gain some Relationship satisfaction
Failing the Interactions, it will work somewhat as a Mean interaction; It won't lead to any kiss, and they will get a negative Buff, and their Romantic satisfaction will drop a little bit, but they won't lose any Relationship.
To determine whether interactions will fail or succeed, I have tried to come up with a new system to do that. which It will only take into consideration their relationship bar and their sentiments, mostly checking for negative ones.
It's simple but efficient, so if you're Sims have higher relationship and positive sentiment, they will have a higher chance to succeed.
But, to spice up the mod a little bit, I have made it so that there is always a chance that your sim may fail at the interaction, even if your Sim has a full romantic bar and only positive sentiments, there is a small chance that they can still fail. So just keep that in mind while playing with it
Failing the complaint won't have a tremendous effect, so don't worry too much about it. It's not of the same caliber as failing a kiss or other in-game romantic interactions. it will still count as romantic interactions, it won't lower your romance bar, and it won't give you any negative sentiments.
I have also added that the more you use the Complaint interactions, the Higher the chance of failing (Not all the time, just during the first few hours) Well, people don't like others who keep complaining.
The mod will completely depend on how you are playing with you're sims, if you are using mean interactions and their relationship isn't in the best shape, most of the Romantic Complaints will fail,
With how the Success and failure work in the mod, and how the Complain interactions appear different for each sim, the mod will try to accommodate each player with their playstyle and the type of sims that they are making,
But even though I really liked how the mod works and how everything is personalized and varied. There is an issue that will come up: like what if that you really want to play with the complain about clothes interactions, but Youre sim doesn't have the jealous trait?
Well, don't worry, I have come up with a solution to fix that:
Give a Reason to Complain:
A new interaction will be available in the relationship pie menu: Give a Reason to Complain.
Well, I have worked so hard on this feature, so I really hope that it will be helpful for you guys. I think this was the most challenging thing to make in this mod.
Once you click it, a new menu will pop up, which we can call an interaction picker.
All the Complaints interactions will be there, with their tooltip/reason, and condition. Here, you can see all the new interactions that I have made for the mod.
The tool tip is the same one that may appear if you hover over an interaction in the pie menu; it will explain how each interaction can appear and the reason behind it.
You can pick and choose all the new interactions that you want to appear for your sim:
I have made it so that you can select more than one interaction, so you can easily choose what complaint/confrontation you want for your sims to do. and then click Done.
The interactions that are already given by the picker will be ghosted, so you will know what you have previously chosen.
The interactions given by the picker will have a timer, and they will disappear after a while, so if you miss them, you will have to use the interaction and choose them again, and they will also disappear if you use them.
Well, this picker was a tough One for sure, I didn't know at first of the idea on what to do, but I was for sure not gonna put 20 interactions on another radial pie menu and let you go through it, each time you wanted to choose an interaction.
I also didn't want to change the initial system. Since I really liked how clean and varied the pie menu looked in each sim, it felt more personalized. So, really hope that you will find it useful and that it will help you with you're gameplay experience,
Interactions Outcomes:
If youre Sims has succeeded at resolving the Conflict, the interaction will count as a kiss/Flirty interaction; they will gain some relationship satisfaction and get a Positive buff about the kiss.
All the interactions will give the same buff, and each time the Sims successfully play the interactions, the buff duration and effect will increase
If they fail to resolve the complaint, they will have some bad feelings about the subject of the complaint/confrontations;
Each interaction will give a different buff related to the complaint, and their relationship satisfaction will drop a little bit.
The target sim will also have their own different negative Buff (How they feel about the complaint) 
The negative buff will show you how your sims feel about the complaints/confrontations,
If Youre sim feels unjust about it and you want to remove the negative buff, well, I have added a way to do that!
Complain about Recent behavior:
You can use it to remove the negative Complaints buffs (Of course, the Interaction should succeed to do that, or you will end up with more negative emotion)
The interaction won't always remove the negative buff, I didn't find it realistic. iI felt like it was a little bit of cheating, so I have tweaked it so that there is a 70% chance to remove them, instead of always removing them. it can also remove Multiple at once or fail at removing any of them.
Depending on the scenario, the animations of the complaint about Recent behavior will be varied,
If your Sim is the one confronted and received the negative buff, I interpreted this as the one whose partner has wronged them; thus, the animation appears as though the partner is trying to calm your Sim down.
And if they were the ones who wronged their partner, confronted them, and received a negative buff about it, then your sim will be the one trying to cool the other down.
If they both have wronged each other, both complain about each other, and both have a negative outcome from each complaint that they have, the animations will be the generic complaint about behavior one, where both of them are angry with each other
Of course, on those two cases I am talking about when the interactions succeed,
The varied animations will only be in the complain about recent behavior interaction, since you may use this interaction more than others.
Other Interactions will only work as usual, with two animations for each, a fail animation and a successful animation.
Complaints Setting:
I have added a settings pie menu to the mod, which can be accessed via shift-clicking the other Sims. it will give you a full control of the mod.
The new Pie menu can be found in the Debug category while shift-clicking a sim. To be able to access it, you will need to have testingcheats enabled. To activate this,
press Shift+Control+C to open the cheat console, type "testingcheats true," and then shift-click the cheat menu
You will find three new interactions there:
Give a reason to complain.
This is the interaction picker; the same is available on the relationship category. I have just added it here for ease of use.
Always resolve the conflict
Always fail at resolving the conflict
Well, as their name suggests, if they make your sim either always fail or always succeed with the new interactions,
you can click on one of them. A checkmark will appear on the Interaction Icon to let you know what setting you have chosen. If you want to disable it, you can click on it again.
If you don't have the Testing cheat enabled, you may not need it. The setting is just to give you extra control. The way how the mod works should be perfect for most cases; those settings may come in handy for people who want full control over their Sims. It will also be useful for Machinima creators who want to film specific animation,
Things to clarify:
The mod is Crosspack compatible, which means that depending on the pack that you have, your sim may have a complaint about that.
The mod is also base game compatible, I tried my best to keep most of the interactions entirely base game. But there are some interactions that are related to the romance pack and other packs, so if you don't have that pack, you can use the interactions picker and give those interactions to you're sim

Nope, it shouldn't be autonomous! If you're seeing it happen on its own, definitely let me know; that might be a bug.

It might be! But issues like that are most often caused by an outdated Lot51’s Core Library,, so make sure you’ve got the latest version installed. If it’s still not showing up, try testing it in a new save with no other mods, Let me know how it goes!

hi im also having issues suddenly where the kiss and grind and passionate romance arent showing up on the pie menu , was all working previously fine , ive tried deleting lot51 core and xml injector and your mods and reinstalling but the options still arent showing on the pie menu , i cant seem to see what the issue is , any tips please? thankyou

Hey, So i am having trouble with the Kiss n grind mod and the passionate gifts, when they are in my mods folder it will crash the game on start or if it does successfully start, my female sims can not interact with other female sims or self click, is there a fix or this? does the mod conflict with something else, My game is up to date and I have the latest lot51 files. I know this isn't the right mod to comment under but i dont have access to the comment sections of your previous posts
