I just listened to this and have to say the part where Bex talked about how Josh fully embraced Ella in every way possible… coming from a child who has had a step father and step mother… that is fucking awesome! It is what I wish for every kid in those situations.

Our first child was adopted and we had three hours’ notice before she joined our family, so we didn’t have months to prepare and fret over the things to buy for her. And it was easy to realize how little babies really need! But you can take that time to see how you would like to function. We actually really loved having a changing table, but my husband is very tall and coming down to the floor was annoying. But that’s easy to figure out and then purchase when you know you want it. Our culture tells us we have to be über prepared before baby comes with all the gear, but in reality, you need just the basics and lots of love (and patience for little sleep). Good luck to the new mom!
