I am catching up on some older episodes and thought this one was so meaningful in terms of my own circumstances. My son decided a year ago he wanted to try a boarding school for his high school years! After finding the best school, then working out if we could afford it, we said goodbye to him at the end of August. He has adjusted so well, but my husband and I have been left with some very uncomfortable emptiness. We see him every few weeks and speak often, however we were not prepared to be almost empty nesters so early. Now our daughter is considering the same school and I'm thinking I will need to go talk to a couselor to deal with the loss. It feels like a loss, it is physically painful at times. Your discussion here about emptiness helped me realize that this change will require a lot of work. Ty as always!
