I listened to your podcast here and then went and listened to the podcast on spotify. When she talks about how the idea of the high five came to her, it reminded me of a very dark time in my life when I had moved to a new country, had just ended a relationship that meant everything to me and I had bought a little stuffed animal for a gift that I ended up keeping. It was a monkey with long arms with velcro so they attached to each other. And one day I just made him hug me because I needed a hug and he was so therapeutic because I even started using it to express stuff I couldn’t express otherwise. Like a therapeutic pupped. Is stupid but is true. If we step out of the accepted things that can help us, sometimes we find really weird ways to help ourselves and bring us back up.
