This was a great podcast. I’ve been reading the book “The Body Keeps the Score” and hearing this podcast feels like a nice compliment to that book. I love the “I see you” thing. It reminds me of the episode from Bojack Horseman when he’s talking at his mother’s funeral and how he recounts her saying “I see you” in the hospital and he discusses the importance of after all the trauma they all went through as a family what they needed was to be seen and he just kinda trails on about the what his mother might have meant by “I see you” from a threat, to a moment of connection, or just a simple observation that he is an object in her vision. Only to realize that she was reading “ICU” cuz they were in the hospital. He had the casket closed because he knew she wanted an open casket and he was petty and didn’t want to give her that. But in the end he realizes his mom wanted what we all want which is to be seen. So he opens the casket for her. And in classic Bojack comedy, it turns out she wasn’t in there he was at the completely wrong funeral. Great episode.
