Accountability on social media is what helped me play the #minsgame every month for two straight years. I'm a member of the Minimalist.org Online City on Facebook, and I posted pictures every day of what I was getting rid of. Having that accountability where I had said that I was going to post pictures, and did it, gave me the impetus to keep going and get rid of over 16,000 items. I don't think I would have kept going if I didn't have the support of that online community.
