Sending so much love to you, Alex. I could hear the tears behind the tremble in your voice. I’m so sorry this has happened to you, and that his egregious comments of having “more trans people to kill” affected you to the point of even CONSIDERING turning back to the “closet” to retain comfort and safety. This shouldn’t be happening. We all know it, and as TK said, please know that the majority of us out here are “the others.” We see you, we’re with you; we may not always understand your plight, but we stand with you in demanding FOR you the right to basic human needs: safety, security, love and justice. Just echoing what JFM said; unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately, depending on what we do with it) we all remain each other’s mirrors; when we don’t like what we see reflected, we get triggered. With self-awareness, being triggered can be the greatest catalyst for growth and expansion, as well as a necessary challenging of our programmed beliefs and ideas. But without self-awareness, being triggered can result in anger and aggression towards the reflection, and in extremely horrific cases, murder of the reflection in order to eliminate the uncomfortable, threatening feeling of peering into it too deeply. We must see it for what it is and call it out what we see it so that we can continue to protect and respect each other in our ongoing commitment to understand and honor all expressions of humanity.

I’m so glad a teacher called in. I’m slooowly becoming more minimalist and I’ve gotten SO much from your movies, books, and podcasts BUT teacher clutter is a whole new animal. Thanks for your perspective. I have a walk in closet in my basement full of my teacher supplies that I will be looking at with fresh eyes.
