New PyAlienLife Animal and Plant Mechanics
🕑 Added 2019-09-18 15:21:08 +0000 UTCWell...not much "new", but we work under factorio limitations here. Anyway... The farms and crops only works now when you put the animals or plant the seeds on them. So they can grow, produce something or just breed. Empty farms and crops wont progress and still will consume energy.
Each farm/crop will have a number of "slots" (aka factorio called modules), to put the species. The more you fill these slots, faster the machine will work. Which makes sense...the chances of a Mukmoux get pregnant, for example, is higher if theres various of them to..*cofcof*. But you may ask: "ok, and how to get the first animals or seeds to use these farms?"
Good! You better invest in genetics and technology for that. First, download de DNA sequence sample from the nearest orbital Earth Databank (they said theres one in the neighborhood solar system). Then, with that information, write (craft) a series of instructions to alter that earth creature and adapt them to the Navious planet. use that codex to guide your Creature chamber or your Botanical nursery to combine the sample data you get, with the knowledge you get in that alien planet, some fetal serum, some dna proteins, some alien samples and boom, you may have a brand new hybrid species to put in your farm/crop field. Its a LONG process to fabricate a new life....but it will be exponentially faster and faster after you start to breed them.
Create-breed-slaughter-repeat.

No...very few aliens will be added at first because the colossal amount of work to add a new alien. Some will be made with basic samples. Also, i split the mod in two, for now, im working on the traditional part where you can "download" the samples. After the mod is working and released, i will work in the roaming alien part.

You've mentioned that players who play with biters (that's me!) will have to get the animals in a different way. Will there be wild Mukmouxs roaming the lands?

Interesting. What happens if you mix and match different animals in the slots? Or will something prevent that?
